Lab-reared colonies of Bombus huntii (Hunt bumble bee) were deployed in a commercial cherry orchard in the spring of 2016. A fungicide formulation containing boscalid (25.2%) and pyraclostrobin (12.8%) was applied one time at the recommended label rate. Nectar and pollen were collected daily, beginning two days before spray application and continuing for ten days following. Nectar samples were extracted with acetonitrile and cleaned up using dispersive solid-phase extraction with primary-secondary amine, C18, and magnesium sulfate. Pollen samples were extracted with ethyl acetate. Both types of samples were analyzed by GC-MS/MS for boscalid and pyraclostrobin. Fungicide concentrations in nectar varied spatially...

To determine aqueous pyrethroid partitioning across a salinity gradient 20 mL Pyrex beakers were filled with 8 mL of deionized water at varying salinities (0, 0.5, 2, 6 ppt). Salinity was adjusted using a 10 ppt stock solution (made by diluting Instant Ocean into deionized water). The water samples were spiked with pyrethroids (bifenthrin, cyhalothrin, cyfluthrin, cypermethrin, deltamethrin, esfenvalerate, fenpropathrin) at 500 ng/L (pyrethroid stock solution was 0.25 ng/µL in acetone, 16 µL added to each beaker). Samples were equilibrated in the dark (beaker covered with aluminum foil and placed in a cardboard box; the first set was equilibrated for 24 hr, the second set for 120 hr). Each set of samples at a particular...

Early rearing of steelhead (Oncorhynchus mykiss) in Oregon hatcheries is often problematic; fry can become emaciated and die during the period between hatch and first feed. Thiamine (vitamin B1) deficiency has caused early mortality in salmonids; however, thiamine status of Oregon’s anadromous steelhead populations is currently unknown. We sampled eggs of 7-10 females during spawning from three Oregon hatcheries in 2019. In 2022, females were injected with buffered thiamine HCl 50 mg/kg prior to spawning; additionally, a subset of eggs were supplemented via bath treatment with thiamine mononitrate (1000 ppm) at spawning. We then compared egg thiamine from control and injected females, as well as measured mortality...

The Herring River estuary (Wellfleet, Cape Cod, Massachusetts) has been tidally restricted for over a century by a dike constructed near the mouth of the river. Behind the dike, the tidal restriction has caused the conversion of salt marsh wetlands to various other ecosystems including impounded freshwater marshes, flooded shrub land, drained forested upland, and wetlands dominated by Phragmites australis. This estuary is now managed by the National Park Service, which has plans to replace the dike and restore tidal flow to the estuary. To assist National Park Service land managers with restoration planning, study collaborators have been investigating differences in soil properties, carbon accumulation, and greenhouse...

The objective of this study was to evaluate the chronic toxicity of potassium (tested as KCl) to a commonly tested unionid mussel (fatmucket, Lampsilis siliquoidea) at five water hardness levels (25, 50, 100, 200, 300 mg/L as CaCO3) representing most surface waters in the United States. Chronic 28-d potassium chloride toxicity tests were conducted with 3-week-old juvenile fatmucket using six concentrations of potassium in the five base waters of differing hardness using ASTM standard methods. In this data release we report individual survival, mass, and length along with chemical and water quality measurements.

The data set contains sampling and catch data associated with a broad-scale experiment to examine dispersal of endangered pallid sturgeon (Scaphirhynchus albus) free embryos in the Missouri River of eastern Montana and western North Dakota. On 20190701, two age groups of pallid sturgeon including 771,707 1-day post-hatch (dph) free embryos and 200,786 5-dph free embryos were released and recaptured through 20190708 from six sampling sites in a 150-mile reach of the Missouri River. The free embryos were sampled using multiple boats and crews at the sites, and sampling for the free embryos was conducted at the river bed (bottom samples), in the middle of the water column (mid-water samples), and at the river surface...

In 2019, an experimental release of nearly 1.0 million free embryos of federally endangered pallid sturgeon (Scaphirhynchus albus) was conducted in the Missouri River of eastern Montana and western North Dakota. Dispersal of the free embryos and survival of the benthic larvae was assessed from 20190701 to 20190909 through 150 miles of the river. The data sets contain mean daily discharge and hourly water temperature data for the Missouri River, and mean daily discharge data for the Yellowstone River. Dates of the data extend from 20190701 to 20190909. Discharge data for the Missouri River were obtained from USGS gage 06177000 near Wolf Point, Montana. Discharge data for the Yellowstone River were obtained from USGS...

These data include measurements of root and shoot lengths of Rice (Oryza sativa) and Bermuda grass (Cynodon dactylon) that were inoculated with nine endophytic bacterial isolates. The tabular data represent growth promotion and fungal infection susceptibility information. They also show the infection rate of F. oxysporum on Rice (Oryza sativa), Bermuda grass (Cynodon dactylon) and Annual Bluegrass (Poa annua) when inoculated with SY1.

Dataset consists of morphometric measurements from unionid Pondmussel (Ligumia subrostrata) and concentrations of four per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) in water and freshwater mussels collected from a 14-day accumulation and 7-day elimination study. The accumulation of four per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) were measured. Samples (4 replicates) were collected at 0, 4, 12, 48, 96, 168, and 336 hours during the uptake phase of the exposure. Samples (4 replicates) were collected at time point 348, 360, 408, and 504 hours during the elimination phase of the exposure. Note the time points are sequential with the uptake portion of the study followed by the elimination portion of the study.
