This shapefile is a vegetation map of Weir Farm National Historic Site, Connecticut. A map showing the locations of the vegetation associations within the park was created following the USGS-NPS Vegetation Mapping Program protocols (The Nature Conservancy and Environmental Systems research Institute 1994c). Each vegetation association was cross-walked to the National Vegetation Classification System (NVCS) or names modified from level II of Anderson's land use land cover classification system. The map is based on field work performed in the fall of 2003 and the summers of 2004-2005.

This polygon feature class represents vegetation communities mapped at Timpanogos Cave National Monument. The polygons were generated using guidelines set by the Standardized National Vegetation Classification System (October 1995). Vegetation polygons were drawn on-screen using the aerial 2006 photography. Traditional image interpretation cues were used to develop the polygons, such as shape, size, pattern, tone, texture, color, and shadow. Additional data layers were used in aiding the interpretation, such as slope, hydrology, geography, and ground-collected vegetation information. As with any digital layer, this layer is a representation of what is actually occurring on the ground at the time the imagery was...

This data represents a vegetation map for Gauley River National Recreation Area. It contains nonoverlapping polygons which represent vegetation classes, aquatic features, and cultural features. Vegetation types were classified based on statistical analysis of plot data collected on the ground from 1995 through 2009. Polygons were delineated based on interpretation of digital and hard copy aerial photography flown in 2003. This data set was created by clipping the GARIvegetation feature class by the boundary of Gauley River National Recreation Area. Multipart polygons created by the clip operation were converted to single part polygons. Hectares and acres were calculated for each polygon using XTools.

This polygon feature class represents vegetation communities mapped at Curecanti National Recreation Area. The polygons were generated using guidelines set by the Standardized National Vegetation Classification System (October 1995). Original lines were drawn on mylar overlays using the DOQs collected in June of 2002. Hard copy 9x9 photography was used for photo interpretation. Traditional image interpretation cues were used to develop the polygons, such as shape, size, pattern, tone, texture, color, and shadow. Additional data layers were used in aiding the interpretation, such as slope, hydrology, geography, and ground-collected vegetation information. The attributed vegetation classes were subjected to an accuracy...

The geographic information system (GIS) format spatial data set of vegetation for Saint Croix National Scenic Riverway (SACN) was created for the National Park Service (NPS) Vegetation Inventory Program (VIP). The SACN administrative boundary covers an area of nearly 39,500 ha. The project boundary for the SACN vegetation mapping project covers an areas of just over 68,200 ha with the approximate 300 m buffer. The map classification scheme used to create the vegetation data set is designed to represent local vegetation types at the finest level possible using the National Vegetation Classification Standard (NVCS) Version 2. Physiognomic information was also recorded, including height (woody vegetation), canopy density,...

The geographic information system (GIS) format spatial data set of vegetation for Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore (PIRO) was created by the National Park Service (NPS) Vegetation Inventory Program (VIP). The PIRO covers an area of approximately 36,046 ha (89,072 acres). The map classification scheme used to create the vegetation data set is designed to represent local vegetation types at the finest level possible using the National Vegetation Classification (NVC) Standard (Vr 2). Physiognomic information was also recorded, including height (woody vegetation), canopy density, and coverage patterns. The vegetation data set was developed by interpreting aerial photographs collected in 2005 and extensive field surveys....

This shapefile was made in 2009 after a second field anaysis of BUIS. Photo interpretation for these polygons were based on the 2007 Army Corp (imagery_armycorp file) imagery. This feature class is the end product for the BUIS vegetation product. To fully comprehend this feature class, please refer to the full "Buck Island Reef National Monument, U.S. Virgin Islands Vegetation Mapping Project, 2009" report:Moser, J. G., K. R. T. Whelan, R. B. This polygon feature class represents vegetation communities mapped at Tumacacori National Historic Park to an alliance or association level. landscape feature as a guide. d to develop the polygons, such as shape, size, pattern, tone, texture, color, and shadow. Additional data layers were used in aiding the interpretation, such as slope, hydrology, geography, and ground-collected vegetation information. The draft polygons were printed out and taken into the field; Field crews modified boundaires and merged or split delineated polygons based on field observations. All edits were made on paper maqps and transferred into GIS later. The minimum mapping unit was 1/2 hectare. The attributed vegetation classes were subjected...

This shapefile is an vegetation map of Colonial National Historical Park, Virginia. It was developed by The Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation, Division of Natural Heritage in cooperation with North Carolina State University's Center for Earth Observation for the Northeast Region of the National Park Service. The data was created following general guidelines set forth by the USGS-NPS Vegetation Mapping Program. Map classes are crosswalked to the U.S. National Vegetation Classification (USNVC) or level II of the Andersons land use land cover classification system. Crosswalks to the USNVC were determined on September 27, 2007. The map is based on field work performed in the summers of 2003-2005 and...

A total of 294.7 acres (119.3 hectares) are within the accepted boundaries of PIPE (Figure 8). The standard minimum mapping unit for NPS vegetation mapping projects is defined as 0.5 hectare, although several mapped polygons were smaller for PIPE. Central Mesic Tallgrass Prairie made up 57.3% of the vegetated area of the monument, and dominated the view shed (157.1 acres; 63.6 hectares). The Restored Tallgrass Prairie made up another 24.4% of the monument, and was continuous with Central Mesic Tallgrass Prairie. Northern Tallgrass Quartzite Outcrop vegetation formed an essentially continuous, narrow belt along the length of a Sioux quartzite outcrop, including the lip of the rim of a bluff in some areas, and made...
