The Geologic Map Index of Alaska (Map Index) is an online, interactive web mapping application that provides access to an actively growing geographic index of geology-related maps of Alaska and adjacent areas. This online research tool provides the locations and outlines of most DGGS and U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) geologic and geophysical maps of Alaska in a single, interactive web map. It allows searches of the map database by geographic area of interest, keywords, themes, publishing agency, dates, and other criteria. The search results provide links to DGGS's comprehensive, multi-agency publications database, where users may view and download publications for free. No other geographic index of Alaska geologic...
This dataset is comprised of a vector topographic and hydrologic base map illustrating the Kavik River map area, including the Mount Michelson C-5 and B-5 Quadrangles and portions of the Mount Michelson C-4 and B-4 Quadrangles. The geospatial data in this dataset were vectorized from scanned raster topographic maps published by the U.S. Geological Survey.
This data set conveys information about samples collected during fieldwork in the Tyonek area of Cook Inlet. Samples were collected from outcrops for Mercury Injection Capillary Pressure (MICP) analyses.
During the 2006 field season, the Alaska Division of Geological & Geophysical Surveys conducted remote mapping as part of the Kavik River STATEMAP project. This surficial-geologic mapping was conducted to provide additional detail to the STATEMAP comprehensive geologic mapping as well as to serve as a stand-alone map publication.
This report provides detailed (1:63,360-scale) mapping of portions of U.S. Geological Survey Circle B-2 (1955), B-3 (1955), B-4 (1952), C-2 (1955), C-3 (1955), and C-4 (1952) quadrangles. The area is part of the Circle mining district and adjacent to the Fairbanks mining district. This report includes detailed geologic, structural, stratigraphic, and geochronologic data. Based on the resulting geologic maps, field investigations, and laboratory materials analyses, the project has also generated derivative maps of geologic construction materials and geologic hazards.
Following the May 2005 acid crater lake flood at Chiginagak volcano, DGGS has been monitoring crater lake water that flows into Indecision Creek, Mother Goose Lake, and the King Salmon River. This data table provides information on water samples collected between 2005 and 2012 near Chiginagak volcano, including: sample ID, latitude, longitude, location description, pH, and cation and anion chemistry results.
This data set conveys information about samples collected during fieldwork in the Tyonek area of Cook Inlet. Samples were collected from outcrops for Mercury Injection Capillary Pressure (MICP) analyses.
40Ar/39Ar data from plutonic, dike, and alteration samples collected during geologic mapping of the eastern part of the Bonnifield mining district geologic map area in parts of Fairbanks A-1 and Fairbanks A-2 and Healy D-1 and Healy D-2 quadrangles yield results indicating the plutons, dikes, and a gold-bearing quartz vein in the Bonnifield Map area range from 85 to 95 m.y.
Mineral-resources personnel from the Alaska Division of Geological & Geophysical Surveys carried out a geological field survey, including mapping and sampling in the eastern part of the Bonnifield mining district in the Fairbanks A-1, A-2, Healy D-1 and D-2 quadrangles, Alaska from June 16 to July 18, 2008. The fieldwork provides basic information critical to building an understanding of Alaska geology and is part of an integrated program of airborne geophysical surveys followed by geological mapping. During 2008, 242 rock samples were collected for geochemical trace-element analysis, 106 rock samples were collected for whole rock (major- and minor-oxide and petrogenetically important trace element) analyses, and...
This data set consists of a short movie clip of the Aupuk Gas Seep along the Colville River, Alaska.
The Alaska Geologic Data Index (AGDI) is an actively growing index of unpublished geologic data collected throughout the state of Alaska. The records captured range from project documents to imagery to geochemical data. The index is designed to contain data and documents pertaining to all related fields of geology, including oil and gas, geologic engineering, minerals industry, scientific data, and agency archives. The index can refer to paper or digital information. Agencies, institutions, and the public are encouraged to contribute unpublished data to this dataset. Data owners can pick from three levels of data availability. These include: public - the data records in AGDI are visible to the public, and the archived...
This map illustrates the distribution of unconsolidated deposits and undifferentiated bedrcok units in the Salcha River-Pogo area.It was prepared by interpretation of 1:63,360-scale false-color infrared aerial photographs taken July 1978, July 1979, and August 1981, and is locally verified by ground observations during field visits.
A pilot study using discriminant analysis on major oxide and minor element data from 67 chert samples in the Rampart area, southeastern Tanana and southwest Livengood Quadrangles, western Yukon-Tanana Upland, Alaska, generally indicates a unique geochemical signature for the cherts of a given unit.Chert samples from five known type locales were used as standards of comparison: 1)Livengood Dome Chert (Ordovician), 2)Amy Creek unit (Proterozoic to early Paleozoic), 3)Rampart Group (Mississippian to Triassic), 4)Troublesome Creek unit (Devonian), and 5)Permian-Triassic clastic unit (associated with the Triassic-dated gabbro). Samples from the above units were compared to chert from Tanana B-1 area-units of unknown...
