This data are a single table of nest records from a multi-year study of Pacific Common Eider (Somateria mollissima v-nigrum) biology that was conducted along the lower Kashunuk River, Kigigak Island, and the mouth of the Tutakoke River on the Yukon-Kuskokwim Delta from 1991-2004.
This is a child item of the USGS Data Release: https://doi.org/10.5066/P9QF8RR5 This dataset is a single comma-delimited text file (.csv). Data include the name of lakes where samples were obtained, the historical dynamics of that lake, the sampled community type, and the dry mass of annual new growth. Shrub community measurements are a combination of understory mass from quadrat harvests and shrub stem mass derived from published allometric equations.
This is a child item of the USGS Data Release: https://doi.org/10.5066/P9QF8RR5 This dataset is a single comma-delimited text file (.csv). Data include the name of lakes where samples were obtained, soil pH, electrical conductivity (EC), water content (VWC), and bulk density (BD) of soil core samples within organic soil horizon in lake-margin wetland plant communities.
This is a child item of the USGS Data Release: https://doi.org/10.5066/P9QF8RR5 Total and organic carbon values from soil samples taken from the Yukon River Basin, Alaska. These samples were used to create a relationship between total carbon and organic carbon for samples which were only run for total carbon.

Fragment data from 11 nuclear microsatellite loci and sequence data from the mitochondrial cytochrome b gene were gathered from Arctic cod (Boreogadus saida) in the Beaufort and Chukchi seas. Mitogenomic analyses of Arctic cod and three other co-distributed gadoids (Polar cod [Arctogadus glacialis], Saffron cod [Eleginus gracilis], Walleye Pollock [Gadus chalcogrammus]) were also completed. Transcriptomic analyses of Arctic cod were used to identify genes associated with environmental perturbations. Genome-wide scans using RAD-Seq of Arctic cod and the co-distributed Polar Cod were collected.

These data are part of the Gulf Watch Alaska (GWA) long-term monitoring program, nearshore monitoring component. The dataset has one comma separated values (.csv) table with estimates of eelgrass (Zostera marina) percent cover. Eelgrass cover was estimated from sonar and video drop cameras deployed from boats following prescribed survey transects.

These data are estimates of den emergence date, den site departure dates, and duration at den sites as well as post-emergence observations for female polar bears sampled in the southern Beaufort Sea subpopulation 1985-2016 and the Chukchi Sea subpopulation 2008-2017. The data were used to better understand the importance of time spent at the den site post-emergence. Emergence dates and departure dates were determined using collar temperature sensor data.
These data are part of the Gulf Watch Alaska (GWA) long term monitoring program, nearshore monitoring component. Specifically, these data describe sea otter (Enhydra lutris) aerial survey observations from the waters around Katmai National Park and Preserve from surveys conducted in 2008, 2012, 2015, and 2018. Sea otters are a keystone predator, well known for structuring the nearshore marine ecosystem through their consumption of invertebrate prey. The dataset consists of 3 comma-delimited files (CSV) exported from Microsoft Excel. The data consists of (1) Strip transect counts, (2) Intensive Search Unit (ISU) counts, and (3) Transect coordinates. For each aerial survey, a pilot flew an airplane at an altitude...

This dataset consists of one table with sample collection locations and results of screening resident wildlife for Cryptosporidium and Giardia in the Alaskan Arctic, 2012-2017. We analyzed feces collected from polar bear, Pacific walrus, Arctic fox, and caribou with MERIFLUOR direct immunofluorescence assay to determine the presence of Cryptosporidium oocysts and Giardia cysts.
This dataset contains the growth index from annual growth bands in the shells of two bivalve clam species (Astarte borealis and Liocyma fluctuosa) captured in the Chukchi Sea, Alaska. The growth index is based on a measurement of the annual growth increment width that has been detrended for age-related differences in growth.
Polar bears (Ursus maritimus) are difficult to study because of logistical challenges. Satellite radio collars are an excellent tool for efficiently collecting information on the distribution and habitat use of polar bears because they can be deployed for multiple years. Radio collars can be constructed using materials and devices that result in the collar falling off an animal so that the animal does not retain a non-functional collar indefinitely. However, the performance of "drop-off" materials and devices has been sub-optimal for many years. For example, collar release timer units (RTU), which cause the collar to detach from an animal at a pre-programmed point in time, can fail to function. Similarly, collar...
This is a child item of the USGS Data Release: https://doi.org/10.5066/P9WEK4JI Provided here are two vector geospatial datasets that characterize the distribution of eelgrass (Zostera marina) and seaweeds in waters adjacent to Togiak National Wildlife Refuge, Alaska. These data were derived from: (1) aerial photo imagery acquired on five different summer days 2005-2013 and (2) satellite imagery (Ikonos-2 and Quickbird-2) acquired on five different summer days 2002-2004. Additionally, the ortho-rectified photomosaics of the aerial photographs used for analysis are provided.

This data release includes 4 child items with geospatial datasets that characterize the distribution of eelgrass (Zostera marina) and seaweeds in waters of southwestern Alaska and Baja California, Mexico. Child Item 1: "Mapping Data of Eelgrass (Zostera marina) Distribution, Alaska Peninsula and Nunivak Island" Child Item 2: "Mapping Data of Eelgrass (Zostera marina) Distribution, Togiak National Wildlife Refuge, Alaska" Child Item 3: "Mapping Data of Eelgrass (Zostera marina) Distribution, Baja California, Mexico" Child Item 4: "Habitat Classification Data of Five Bays Along the West Coast of Baja California, Mexico"
This study focuses on a 67 attribute lake cover classification scheme covering the Bering Land Bridge area of the Seward Peninsula, Alaska. The GIS dataset consists of 5170 lakes (which were extracted from a 5m resolution ifSAR/orthophoto image) and provides information on lake morphometry, hydrologic connectivity, surface area dynamics, surrounding terrestrial ecotypes, bedfast percentage, and other important conditions. The Seward Peninsula lake habitat study classification system provides lake specific information for a coastal peninsula area that will guide research and aid in the management of the natural environment.

These data are serum urea nitrogen and creatinine levels for polar bears captured in the southern Beaufort Sea 1983-2016 and the Chukchi Sea 1987-1993 and 2008-2017. The dataset includes relevant information about the bears that were captured including the latitude and longitude of their capture location, capture date, age class and sex, the age and number of cubs accompanying an adult female, and whether the bear denned during the previous winter or exhibited signs of being engaged in mating behavior at the time of or just prior to capture.
