Photomicrographs showing replacement of metamorphosed and a normal calcareous shale. Calcareous carbonaceous shale, from hanging wall, upper Red Wing Extension tunnel. Subangular quartz grains roughly bedded in calcareous, carbonaceous matrix. Some of calcareous material has partially segregated in irregular area of calcite grains and shows early stage of formation of calcite vein.
