Annual summaries of mineral extraction and exploration activities in Idaho and factors impacting these activities. Published and unpublished content. In 1975 Idaho Geological Survey, then named Idaho Bureau of Mines and Geology, began compiling annual summaries for use by U.S. Bureau of Mines and U.S. Geological Survey annual reports after dissolution of the office of the Idaho State Inspector of Mines in 1974. These state data resources are generally more rich in content and context than federal summaries. As part of an ongoing project funded in part by U.S. Geological Survey and Idaho Department of Lands, data from these documents are being geo-related within the Idaho Geological Survey's Database of Mines and...

Oil and gas digitized paper logs, and other analyses in geodatabase. Log ASCII Standard (LAS) files of select scanned well logs from Idaho Geological Survey's publication "DD-3: Historical Oil and Gas Data for Idaho" database of exploration wells across the state. Logs curves converted to LAS files may include: Gamma, Caliper (cal), Resistivity, Spontaneous Potential (SP), Bulk Density, Neutron Porosity, and density porosity. Locations of boreholes, attributes, and PDFs of more than 700 Geophysical logs and other data can be downloaded or viewed at no cost via the Idaho Geological Survey's interactive Oil and Gas webmap.

Rare Earth-Thorium-Hematite and Copper Mineralization in Proterozoic Rocks at Lemhi Pass, Idaho-Montana, 2021, Virginia S. Gillerman, Michael J. Jercinovic, Mark D. Schmitz, and Paul Layer The Lemhi Pass district is located along the Continental Divide in the Beaverhead Mountains of Idaho and Montana. Small copper and copper-gold mines were worked in the early 1900s. In the late 1940s, a large number of thorium veins were located and explored in the district. Thorium rare-earth element (Th-REE) mineralization is present as quartz veins and biotite-rich replacements with abundant specular hematite, thorite, and monazite. Host rocks are Mesoproterozoic quartzite and siltite, which have been correlated primarily...
The Idaho Geological Survey Digital Analytical Data (DAD) publications series consists of tables of sample locations, test results such as whole-rock XRF, and other attribute information including labs, dates, and names of collectors. The DAD series are delivered as XLSX (Windows Excel files) spreadsheets and include metadata. These data will eventually be processed into the Idaho Geological Survey's Geochem database.
Annual reports to the Idaho governor on mining extraction and exploration efforts in Idaho, 1899-1974. Generated by the now-defunct Idaho State Inspector of Mines. These out-of-print publications may be difficult to acquire, and contained richer information concerning locations and nature of mineral deposit discoveries and extraction activity than the derived U.S. Bureau of Mines or U.S. Geological Survey annual reports Many reports are indicative of the cultural and political environment at the time they were published, and reflect the impact of historical events on industry such as wars and legislation. These publications are valuable to a wide range of researchers including geologists, historians, educators,...
