This folder contains unpublished and georeferenced hand drawn geologic maps of five 7.5-minute quadrangles: Grayson, Konnarock, Whitetop Mountain, Park, and Troutdale. Geology was mapped by Douglas W. Rankin from 1962-1969 and compiled thereafter. The maps were scanned in 2016. Data from these maps were compiled in ArcGIS and incorporated into an in progress geologic map of the Mount Rogers area, VA-NC-TN. Please contact the Eastern Geology and Paleoclimate Science Center for additional information and access to original copies.

This collection contains 2,456 botanical specimens. The majority of the specimens were collected from Nevada, New Mexico, Arizona, California, Idaho, and Alaska in the 1950s through 1970s. Dr. H. T. Shacklette was the major curator and contributor during that time. The collection was transferred to the USGS from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) in 1996 when the unit that would become the Biological Resources Division became part of the USGS. The collection was accessioned as USGS museum property in 2005. It is housed at the University of Colorado Museum of Natural History Herbarium, where it is integrated with the rest of the Herbarium's collection. The specimens are curated, and their use is managed, by...
The surface geology of each of the 53 counties of North Dakota was mapped and published as plates in a series of bulletins between 1962 and 2001. As of 2022, the 1:125,000-scale maps contain the most detailed dataset of surficial geologic information for 90% of the state. This collection contains some of these county maps, digitized and vectorized from scans of the original out-of-print warped and discolored paper maps.
GIS files for the 1:150,000-scale Geologic Map of Gunnison County included in Colorado Geological Survey RS-37 Geology and Mineral Resources of Gunnison County, Colorado.

This collection is composed of whole-rock and EPMA tephra glass averages geochemical analyses of rocks from Alaskan volcanoes. Most of the data is from published papers, and some of it is unpublished data from AVO. It is contain analyses for approximately 13,000 samples. Nearly all of the collection is stored in a relational database; the collection is published and searchable at https://avo.alaska.edu/geochem/

This collection contains samples primarily from outcrops, quarries, road cuts, shallow Quaternary and soils borings. The unit of measure is 3" Core boxes (3 1/2" x 18" x 24").
This data set contains information about a set of historical aerial photos stored at the Kansas Geological Survey. This data represents grant year 2019-2020, and has been superseded by a similarly named file.
Collection includes county, PLSS, Latitude, Longitude, operator, well number, sample type, formation, footages from and to, comments, author that cited the sample, and whether the well information has been scanned.
A bedrock topography and depth-to-bedrock maps of the Upper Peninsula
This collection contains select mine and mineral occurrence locations and geologic descriptions in California. These datasets were compiled using descriptions from previously published research and investigations by the California Geological Survey, formerly the California Division of Mines and Geology, the California Division of Mines, and the California State Mining Bureau. This collection also includes information from historical publications by the United States Geological Survey and the former United States Bureau of Mines.
This set includes 52 cores collected from the Mohawk River Valley, NY (Herkimer, Fulton, Montgomery, Schoharie, and Saratoga Counties). Each well was cored continuously from the top of bedrock to the total depth (TD), capturing a complete stratigraphic section of Late Ordovician to (in most cases) Precambrian basement. Core diameters are BX and NX, and lengths range from ~400 to ~1400 feet. The Mohawk Valley cores are of particular value because they were collected at the north end of the Appalachian Basin, in an area where there has been little other exploratory drilling. The results from previous analyses are available upon request.
Digitally scanned images of 2,000 analog paper mud logs representing various counties throughout Oklahoma.
Digitally scanned images of 5,000 analog paper scout tickets representing various counties throughout Oklahoma.
Subset of rock cores and cuttings held by the West Virginia Geological and Economic Survey (WVGES) that have been inventoried and have had bar codes added to individual boxes. Bar codes indicate individual footage in each box.

Collection of 20 geologic maps which are now available in geodatabase (.gdb) format following the USGS Geologic Mapping Schema (GeMS). Current collection consists of 16 county maps, Quaternary, Pleistocene, and bedrock, 1:100,000 scale, 3 regional maps, 1:250,000 scale, and one bedrock map at 1:100,000 with multiple counties. Geodatases are available as downloads from the WGNHS web site.
The John C. Green Collection (Green collection) contains approximately 365 thin section slides, 17 original field notebooks, published and unpublished maps, over 1000 index cards of petrographical and mineralogical information, as well as georeferenced maps and point data in GIS geodatabase format. The data was collected by Dr. John C. Green between 1956 and 1963 in preparation for his PhD dissertation, The geology of the Errol quadrangle, New Hampshire-Maine (Green, 1960) at Harvard University and the subsequent Geological Society of America Special Paper, Stratigraphy, and structure of the Boundary Mountain anticlinorium in the Errol quadrangle, New Hampshire-Maine (Green, 1964). Of the roughly 365 thin sections,...
Summary The documents in this collection, Open File Reports (OFR), represent information the Arkansas Geological Survey (AGS) has amassed from many past and present staff and other geoscientists friendly to the AGS. Friends who contributed include past and present federal, state, and local government personnel, academia, and private industry. The OFR collection consists of unpublished paper files which includes reports, correspondence, mineral and rock data, geochemical analyses and testing, county data, regional data, maps, charts, cross sections, stratigraphic data, paleontological data, and fossil fuels data. An Excel database was created to help searches by capturing the individual file title, abstract, data...
WGNHS has approximately 240 cores donated to us by the Wisconsin Department of Transportation. The cores are from shallow holes drilled in the course of construction projects, mostly for bridges, culverts, and retaining walls. Photographs of the core are available through the WGNHS Data Viewer, and logs for approximately 70 of the cores are available on request.

This collection contains sediment core samples collected during the 2015 India National Gas Hydrate Program Expedition 02 (NGHP-02), which was operated in the area of the Krishna-Godavari Basin along the Eastern Continental Margin of India. The samples are stored in cardboard boxes on one wood pallet.
