Collection of Thin Sections and Polished Sections from Iowa This collection includes approximately 4,000 thin sections of rock units from across the state. There are significant Iowa-based thesis/dissertation and paleontological components. The collection includes approximately 1,200 slides for clay mineralogy of Quaternary units. The collection requires a proper database. We are hoping to incorporate into GeoSam, our overall geologic database and web outlet (https://www.iihr.uiowa.edu/igs/geosam/home). The majority of these notes were contained in paper files, organized by county. Pertinent information from the files was entered in the GeoSam database and associated documents were scanned and uploaded for public view.
