Geophysical logs (gamma, density, electric, etc.) for wells drilled mainly for natural gas in Garrett and Allegany Counties, Maryland. The geophysical logs are paper strip charts of data throughout the depth of each well. All 337 logs have been scanned (.tif format). An out-of-print MGS report, Basic Data Report 5, Deep Wells of Maryland, has data from all deep wells in the State, including many of these Western Maryland wells.

This Collection of Coal Analyses includes published and unpublished data consisting of proximate and ultimate analyses of coal samples from the Tennessee coal fields. Also included are the results of x-ray fluorescence and trace element analyses of some coal and coal ash samples..

This Collection of Non-Coal Hand Samples is quite varied and includes rock samples collected during field mapping, field investigations, and field trips; mineral samples from surface and subsurface mines and mineral prospects; fossil samples collected during field mapping and field trips; specimens used for teaching and outreach events; and specimens donated to the Survey. Some samples are the only ones available from mining sites that have since been reclaimed and from outcrops that no longer exist.

Limestone samples collected at quarries, mines, and from core in Kentucky. Samples are associated with collection sites. The overall goal of this research program was to discern relationships between carbonate lithologies, stratigraphic units, and properties such as chemistry and rock porosity. Much of the raw data collected at the sites is contained in archived field notes available on the KGS website. A map-based website was developed to disseminate sample sites, field notes, and chemical analyses for major element oxides (Ca, Mg, Al, Fe, and Si) for the samples listed here at http://kgs.uky.edu/kylimestone/.

This is a special paleontology collection, separate from the rest of the Geological Survey of Alabama paleontology collection. The fossils in the Toulmin Collection were collected, described, researched, and published on by Lyman Toulman, a Cenozoic Gulf Coastal plain paleontologist and stratigrapher. The fossils in this collection are described with photographs and stratigraphic correlations in the Geological Survey of Alabama publication Monograph 12.

This collection contains records of oil and gas well drilling in Kentucky including electronic documents, geophysical logs, geologic characterizations, and production history.

These are surficial geology maps. The surficial geology maps are 1:24,000 scale detailed reconnaissance maps of unconsolidated materials overlying consolidated bedrock. For more detailed description of the map production refer to the Process_Step chapter in Metadata, written for each map.abstract from metadata. POC is Victoria NebogaMapping is as complete as the time frame allowed. Further research and revision is always possible and encouraged.

This collection (known internally at Maryland Geological Survey as Component 2) consists of 505 enlargements of unrectified, black-and-white aerial photographs flown along Maryland's barrier islands during 13 different time periods (or "sets") between October 1952 and July 1964. Each of the photographs in the collection is about 2 feet x 2 feet in size. Some of the photographs have a scale of 1:14,400 or 1:6,000 stamped on the front. On the backs of many of the photographs is another stamp of "1" = 200 ft". The photographs cover the Maryland section of two narrow barrier islands that lie along Maryland's Atlantic coast, separated by the Ocean City Inlet: Fenwick Island to the north and Assateague Island to the...

Collection includes porosity and permeability data for aquifers in Delaware. This collection has not yet been inventoried and cataloged. Please contact the Delaware Geological Survey to inquire about this collection.
Note: there may be some overlap between these items and the logs in Collection of Well logs from Michigan, a more comprehensive collection from 2009. Collections includes digital mud logs (lithology type, drill rate and gas chromatographs) from oil, gas, and mineral wells collected by the Michigan Geological Survey and archived at the Michigan Geological Repository for Research and Education, Department of Geosciences, Western Michigan University, Kalamazoo Michigan. Mud logs representative of 4,222 Michigan wells scanned into digital format from hard copy records.

14 Special Bulletins consist of illustrated text with geologic maps and cross‑sections on bedrock geology.
This data set contains information about a set of historical aerial photos stored at the Kansas Geological Survey. This data was uploaded to represent the data created for a grant funded in 2016-2017, and has been superseded by a similarly named file.
Logs and miscellaneous files turned over to the Indiana Geological Survey (IGS) by Ayrshire Collieries and Utah International Companies for Indiana. The IGS has not reviewed content.

This is a multifaceted collection of physical materials -- rock hand samples and rock thin sections-- and related paper documentation -- field notebooks, maps, and ledgerbooks -- created and collected by some of the premier geologists of the USGS from 1882 through the early 1920s. A database relating all of these materials can be viewed at https://wgnhs.wisc.edu/lake-superior-legacy-collection-website/.
The Missouri Geological Survey (MGS) field notebook collection is a one-of-a-kind collection, dating back to the 1800s, that contains unique geologic information not recorded elsewhere. This collection contains a listing of all physical MGS field notebooks. The listing contains the notebook number, author(s) and date(s). The physical notebooks are archived in a climate-controlled, fire-proof vault with limited access. Scanned notebooks, which are available through MGS as pdf's, are listed in the "Index of Scanned Missouri Geological Field Notebooks" collection. Any notebook of interest that is listed in here in the "List of Missouri Geological Field Notebooks" collection, but is not currently scanned and indexed...
