The U.S. Geological Survey in cooperation with the Grand River Dam Authority completed a high-resolution multibeam bathymetric survey to compute a new capacity and surface-area table. The capacity and surface-area tables describe the relation between the elevation of the water surface and the volume of water that can be impounded at each given water-surface elevation. The capacity and surface area of Grand Lake O’ the Cherokees were computed from a Triangular Irregular Network (TIN) surface created in Global Mapper Version 21.0.1. Attempts to stabilize the shore can greatly influence rates of shoreline change. Beach nourishment in particular will bias rates of observed shoreline change toward accretion or stability, even though the natural beach, in the absence of nourishment, would be eroding. Trembanis and Pilkey (1998) prepared a summary of identifiable beach nourishment projects in the Gulf Coast region that had been conducted before 1996. This data release includes new major and trace element geochemical data acquired by the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) for igneous rocks in the Cripple Creek district in Colorado.
