There are few resources that provide managers cross-scale information for planning climate adaptation strategies for species and taxa at risk. Appropriate allocation of resources requires an understanding of mechanisms influencing a species’ risk to global change. Dr. Griffis-Kyle will produce a manuscript for peer-reviewed publication and create content for web pages that can be included on the Desert LCC website that provide modules on amphibian climate adaptation strategies. This work is associated with addressing Desert LCC Critical Management Question 4: Physiological Stress of Climate Change and follows a webinar that Dr. Griffis-Kyle presented for the Desert LCC’s CMQ 4 team, titled “Climate and Desert Amphibian...

The Conservation Biology Institute (CBI) manages a version of the PAD-US database and distributes the data set as PAD-US (CBI Edition), Version 2. The 2010 version of PAD-US CBI Edition (version 1) contains both fee lands and easements. The 2012 version 2 contains fee lands only, and is meant to be used in combination with the National Conservation Easement Database (NCED) (ScienceBase Link). The other difference between the two editions is that there have been full updates to 13 states (including Arizona and Colorado).

From the EERMA Interative Energy Atlas website: "The Energy and Environment in the Rocky Mountain Area (EERMA) project is composed of interdisciplinary U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) scientists working to provide land management agencies and decision makers with synthesized information and comprehensive, virtual tools to promote understanding of the trade-offs of energy development. The purpose of the Interactive Energy Atlas is to provide data and decision support tools to visualize and assess the potential effects of energy development on terrestrial/hydrological resources at multiple scales." This viewer and data portal currently contains data sets for Colorado and New Mexico. Topics include existing energy development...

Data resources for summarizing annual Net Primary Productivity (NPP) data over the past 2-3 Decades 1. The website of University of Montana’s Numerical Terradynamic Simulation Group provides annual NPP data for the years 2000 - 2012: http://www.ntsg.umt.edu/project/mod17 There are also summaries for change in NPP over the last decade: ftp://ftp.ntsg.umt.edu/pub/MODIS/NTSG_Products/MOD17/Trend_2km_GEOTIFF/ 2. The Global Land Cover Facility’s Global Production Efficiency Model ( GLOPEM): these are annual NPP data sets that cover the years 1981 - 2000. As an example of what can be done with these data sets, here is a 2010 study that calculated NPP changes in high altitude regions of the western U.S.: http://mri.scnatweb.ch/download-document?gid=1115...

The Colorado Plateau Rapid Ecoregional Assessment (REA) website contains links to the final report. Data from the report are shared through the Colorado Plateau REA Data Portal. Data portal maps are downloadable and can be viewed through map services and ArcGIS.com. The report and associated data answer the following management questions relating to landscape characterization: (questions are from the final REA workplan) Ecological Systems Management Questions: 1. Where are existing vegetative communities? 2. Where are vegetative communities vulnerable to change agents in the future? 3. What change agents have affected existing vegetation communities? The Solar Energy Development Programmatic EIS (Solar PEIS) was prepared by the Department of Energy, Department of Interior and Bureau of Land Management and covers the area of six western states: Arizona, California, Colorado, New Mexico, Nevada and Utah. The purpose is to assess environmental impacts of solar development in the region. The Solar PEIS website has an online map viewer as well as downloadable data (PDF maps, GIS shapefiles, Google Earth KMZ files). There are GIS layers that show current and potential locations of solar facilities and priority solar development areas (BLM Solar Energy Zones). The online map viewer allows users to view these layers along with data relevent to managing environmental...
