Radioactive mineral deposit locations were compiled on maps and lists, as well as production data/deposit summaries, in the CGS report: Nelson-Moore, J.L., Collins, D.B., and Hornbaker, A.L., 1978, Radioactive Mineral Occurrences of Colorado, Colorado Geological Survey Bulletin 40, 1,054 p. This comprehensive report contains 12 map plates that record the location of radioactive minerals, including past mined deposits, throughout Colorado. Also, the report contains compilations of production (if available), deposit type, mineral, and other data associated with each location. Most of the records are associated with uranium/vanadium deposits but also include deposits containing REEs and other minerals.
Maps are an essential tool for conveying information about natural resources, geologic hazards, and geologic history. One important role of the New Mexico Bureau of Geology & Mineral Resources (NMBGMR) is in the production and distribution of geologic and other types of maps. Many of our staff are involved in map production through our STATEMAP program and our Cartography/GIS group is responsible for producing the finished products.

The current database consists of location 9,032 entries. The surface-based, point data include 5,272, 6,939, and 903 density, magnetic susceptibility, and NRM measurements, respectively. Downhole data from 146 drillcore have also been incorporated, yielding an additional 1,145 and 9,622 measurements of density and magnetic susceptibility, respectively. Geologic interpretation of gravity and magnetic anomaly data in a given area is greatly enhanced if density, magnetic susceptibility (MS) and natural remanent magnetization (NRM) data are available for representative rock-types (Chandler and others, 2008). Along with geologic information from outcrop and drill-holes, rock property data help relate geophysical anomaly...
Connecticut Bedrock Mining Sites Database (2022) is a comprehensive inventory of active and historic bedrock mine and quarry sites in Connecticut. Developed in 2020-2022 by the Connecticut Geological Survey. Contributors: Harold Moritz, Randolph Steinen, Taryn Isenburg, Zachary Klang, Rebekah Kennedy, David Vohra, Madison Rosen, Margaret Thomas, Madison Knox, Charles Kaiser. Supersedes all previously published bedrock mines maps. Point features include site locations, commodity data, activity status, host rock, references, validation methods, reconciliation of duplicate sites and other information. Area features identify disturbed land and tailings piles resulting from mining activities. The geodatabase is a synthesis...
Index of unpublished, archival resources, that may aid researchers in locating critical mineral deposits in Wisconsin. The approximately 2500 items in this collection are from eight major and two smaller collections. The item title contains the focus area to which the item pertains. The resources listed are stored at the WGNHS office in Madison, Wisconsin, and though much of this collection is still on paper only, any items will be made available to researchers upon request.
Dataset contains digital versions of physical core logs housed in Missouri Geological Survey archives. The logs are variable in detail, ranging from simple locations and formation tops to extensive stratigraphic descriptions and chemistry. A portion were done by MGS staff; others were donated by industry, academia, and government entities. The dataset includes logs for mines or undeveloped deposits with occurrences of or potential for critical minerals, along with logs in areas with permissive geology. The dataset comprises three tables: header and location information; formation/stratigraphic top, bottom and written description; and geochemical and assay data.
Boxes and maps of uranium exploration data were donated to the CGS several years ago referred to as the “Tallahassee Creek data.” This exploration data set focuses on the Hansen/Taylor, Picnic Tree, and High Park uranium deposits in the Tallahassee Creek mining area. These uranium deposits, a critical mineral as defined by Fortier and others (2018), occur in the Eocene Echo Park Alluvium and Oligocene Tallahassee Creek Conglomerate. Between 1957 and 1972, 95,400 tons of ore averaging 0.25% triuranium octoxide (U3O8) were mined in this area mostly from the Tallahassee Creek Conglomerate (Chenoweth, 1980). Exploration companies report Hansen/Taylor deposit resources of 29,730,000 tons grading at 0.063% U3O8 containing...
The Lynne Deposit is a Volcanogenic Massive Sulfide Deposit in Oneida County in northern Wisconsin containing zinc, lead, silver, and small amounts of gold and copper. In 1990 and 1991, the Noranda Company drilled 133 exploration boreholes, and the core from some of these holes was donated to WGNHS and the Natural Resource Research Institute (NRRI) in Duluth, MN. In 2021, the NRRI donated core from seven holes to WGNHS. These cores were photographed, and detailed logs were created by Dr. Robert Lodge and students from the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire. Original documentation from the Noranda Company including logs, assays, cross sections, reports, and a site map are available at Oneida County’s website: https://www.co.oneida.wi.us/archive/mining/category1da1.html?linkcatid=9...

This collection currently contains approximately 24,000 oil- and gas- related surface samples, which is a subset of the 507,000 surface samples housed at the Alaska Geologic Materials Center. The Amoco Heritage Collection was donated by Amoco-BP in 2002 and contains samples from fieldwork conducted from 1960-1990 in high energy-resource-potential areas of Alaska.
This collection is a compilation of reports, maps, and drill records containing geologic data from Maryland related to the occurrence potential of the 35 mineral resources identified by the U.S. Department of Interior as critical to the economic and national security of the United States (Fortier et al., 2018). The data compilation in this collection began with a USGS National Geologic and Geophysical Data Preservation Program (NGGDPP) FY2019 grant to support the process of identification and prioritization of focus areas for critical minerals.

Annual summaries of mineral extraction and exploration activities in Idaho and factors impacting these activities. Published and unpublished content. In 1975 Idaho Geological Survey, then named Idaho Bureau of Mines and Geology, began compiling annual summaries for use by U.S. Bureau of Mines and U.S. Geological Survey annual reports after dissolution of the office of the Idaho State Inspector of Mines in 1974. These state data resources are generally more rich in content and context than federal summaries. As part of an ongoing project funded in part by U.S. Geological Survey and Idaho Department of Lands, data from these documents are being geo-related within the Idaho Geological Survey's Database of Mines and...

Records in this collection are classified into one of four categories that best characterizes the data contained within the borehole record. The classifications are: Geotechnical: Boreholes and pits created with the intent to gain a detailed understanding of the subsurface lithology and soil or rock properties therein. These records have additional data beyond lithologic descriptions including penetrometer resistance, shear and strength tests, density measurements, etc. Lithologic borings: Boreholes are drill solely for the purpose of identifying subsurface lithology. Material testing techniques were not used (or the results are not provided) to allow for a more detailed understanding of subsurface material properties....
