Radioactive mineral deposit locations were compiled on maps and lists, as well as production data/deposit summaries, in the CGS report: Nelson-Moore, J.L., Collins, D.B., and Hornbaker, A.L., 1978, Radioactive Mineral Occurrences of Colorado, Colorado Geological Survey Bulletin 40, 1,054 p. This comprehensive report contains 12 map plates that record the location of radioactive minerals, including past mined deposits, throughout Colorado. Also, the report contains compilations of production (if available), deposit type, mineral, and other data associated with each location. Most of the records are associated with uranium/vanadium deposits but also include deposits containing REEs and other minerals.

The current database consists of location 9,032 entries. The surface-based, point data include 5,272, 6,939, and 903 density, magnetic susceptibility, and NRM measurements, respectively. Downhole data from 146 drillcore have also been incorporated, yielding an additional 1,145 and 9,622 measurements of density and magnetic susceptibility, respectively. Geologic interpretation of gravity and magnetic anomaly data in a given area is greatly enhanced if density, magnetic susceptibility (MS) and natural remanent magnetization (NRM) data are available for representative rock-types (Chandler and others, 2008). Digital files of basement structure in Colorado, including structure contours on top of Precambrian basement rock, selected wells drilled to Precambrian and Lower Paleozoic rocks, sedimentary basins, major oil and gas fields, Precambrian and Upper Cretaceous to Tertiary volcanic and intrusive rock outcrops. Major sedimentary basins and arches, as well as Precambrian mountain ranges and volcanic fields are included. Also included are 73 gas fields and 129 oil fields.

This collection currently contains approximately 24,000 oil- and gas- related surface samples, which is a subset of the 507,000 surface samples housed at the Alaska Geologic Materials Center. The Amoco Heritage Collection was donated by Amoco-BP in 2002 and contains samples from fieldwork conducted from 1960-1990 in high energy-resource-potential areas of Alaska.
All core samples on file at the KGS Earth Analysis Research Library with photos of core boxes by interval. Includes continuous or interval cores on file at the KGS Earth Analysis Research Library in Lexington, Kentucky. Core samples range from PreCambrian to Mesozoic in age and are derived from oil and gas wells, coal or mineral exploration wells, geotechnical wells, and hydrologic investigation wells.

A portion were done by MGS staff; others were donated by industry, academia, and government entities. The dataset includes logs for mines or undeveloped deposits with occurrences of or potential for critical minerals, along with logs in areas with permissive geology. The dataset comprises three tables: header and location information; formation/stratigraphic top, bottom and written description; and geochemical and assay data.

This collection represents the entirety of the BLM Alaska rock collection, totaling 117476 samples consisting of many sample types from core, hand, pan concentrates, stream sediments, thin sections, pulp and other miscellaneous sample types
This collection is comprised of legacy DGGS geologic maps that have been converted to the single-map USGS Geologic Map Schema (GeMS; formerly known as NCGMP09). Initial conversions will be conducted on maps in areas with critical mineral potential, benefiting DGGS and USGS critical mineral studies in Alaska. Future additions to this collection will include both converted geologic maps, and new geologic maps created using the GeMS schema.

The data comprising this GIS and data download, digitized in 2020, is a partial compilation of the 1978 CGS publication Bulletin 40 – Radioactive Mineral Occurrences of Colorado (and Bibliography). Funding for this digitization project was from a U.S. Geological Survey National Geological and Geophysical Data Preservation Program (NGGDPP) grant with matching funds provided by the CGS. This two-part report provides an essentially complete listing of radioactive occurrences in Colorado, with a comprehensive bibliography and bibliographic cross-indexes. This set includes 52 cores collected from the Mohawk River Valley, NY (Herkimer, Fulton, Montgomery, Schoharie, and Saratoga Counties). Each well was cored continuously from the top of bedrock to the total depth (TD), capturing a complete stratigraphic section of Late Ordovician to (in most cases) Precambrian basement. Core diameters are BX and NX, and lengths range from ~400 to ~1400 feet. The Mohawk Valley cores are of particular value because they were collected at the north end of the Appalachian Basin, in an area where there has been little other exploratory drilling. The results from previous analyses are available upon request.

This collection is composed of whole-rock and EPMA tephra glass averages geochemical analyses of rocks from Alaskan volcanoes. Most of the data is from published papers, and some of it is unpublished data from AVO. It is contain analyses for approximately 13,000 samples. Nearly all of the collection is stored in a relational database; the collection is published and searchable at https://avo.alaska.edu/geochem/
This sample collection consists of a 1997 donation from the Shell Oil Company to the Alaska Geological Materials Center. It contains approximately 68,000 samples of following types: dart (short seafloor cores), seismic shothole, outcrop, and megafossils. 80% of the collection are outcrop samples. 5 percent of the collection has been inventoried with specific locations. Most of the collection is in good shape though many megafossil sample bags need to be replaced. The remainder of the collection will be inventoried in a future data preservation project
