These data are chemical analyses of discrete samples of groundwater, stream base flow, and springs collected to support a U.S. Geological Survey study to estimate the timing and source of recharge to the basalt groundwater system in the Umatilla River basin, Oregon. Categories of data include: (1) site information (2) field measurements, (3) tracers of groundwater age and source, and (4) dissolved noble gases. These data were collected during August 26, 2014 – September 13, 2022. Data are in .csv file format.

These data describe the wells compiled for the Columbia Plateau Regional Aquifer Study (CPRAS). The data included are well ids used in the study, the X and Y coordinates of each well, in feet, in Washington State Plane South NAD 1983 coordinate system (zone 4602), land-surface elevation, in feet, of each well in North American Vertical Datum of 1988 (NAVD 88), the date each well was drilled, well depth, in feet, and quality flags for well location and land-surface elevation.

This ArcGIS shapefile shows the known locations of beaver dams in the Tualatin Basin. The dam location information was generated by multiple local agencies, groups, and organizations. The local sources had identified the beaver dams between 2011 and 2019. USGS worked with these local sources to combine all data into one inventory.

This data release provides model inputs and outputs for a model that predicts redox conditions in groundwater in the contiguous United States. Input variables describe the hydrology, soils, geology, and hydrologic position of groundwater sample locations. The data release accompanies a journal article that describes model development and applications (Tesoriero_and_others_2023).

This dataset includes georeferenced, high-resolution, airborne thermal infrared (TIR) and high-resolution true-color imagery, a polyline shapefile of the channel centerline, a polyline shapefile with TIR sample points for longitudinal stream temperature profiles, and a tabular file with longitudinal stream temperature profiles for the Donner und Blitzen River and its tributaries, Oregon. The aerial TIR surveys were conducted with a helicopter by NV5 Geospatial and are published as 17 raster mosaics in GeoTiff format with a resolution of 0.3 meters (m). This ArcGIS shapefile shows the known locations of beaver activity (including beaver chews, lodges, and dams) in the Tualatin Basin. USGS was intending to collect information about the locations of beaver dams. Often, the GPS coordinates of dams were not known, but the beaver-affected areas were known. The information about locations with beaver activity was generated by multiple local agencies, groups, and organizations. The local sources had identified the beaver activity locations between 2013 and 2016. USGS worked with these local sources to combine all data into one inventory.

This data release contains the model inputs, outputs, and source code (written in R) for the boosted regression tree (BRT) and artificial neural network (ANN) models developed for four sites in Upper Klamath Lake which were used to simulate daily maximum pH and daily minimum dissolved oxygen (DO) from May 18th to October 4th in 2005-12 and 2015-19 at four sites, and to evaluate variable effects and their importance. Simulations were not developed for 2013 and 2014 due to a large amount of missing meteorological data. This model archive summary (MAS) documents the revision of suspended sediment concentration (SSC) unit and daily values computed from WY 2008-2017, and the additional computation of SSC unit values from WY 2018-2020 using a new log-transformed regression model with SSC samples from the period of record at this site. The new, revised model computes SSC unit values for WY 2008-2020. This model supersedes all prior models for this site. Prior approved models were simple linear, non-transformed regressions with turbidity as the explanatory variable. This model archive summary (MAS) is a model update to an existing log-transformed turbidity-suspended sediment concentration (SSC) regression model computing SSC for water year (WY) 2008-2017. This model supersedes all models prior to Oct 1, 2017 and includes a new model for WY 2018-2020. The methods used follow USGS guidance as referenced in Office of Surface Water (OSW)/Office of Water Quality (OWQ) technical memoranda 2016.07 and USGS techniques and methods, book 3-chapter C4 (Rasmussen and others, 2009).

This data release contains the model input and output data, and supporting files, from hydrologic simulations of streamflow conditions in the upper Klamath River Basin using the Precipitation-Runoff Modeling System (PRMS). The model was calibrated for the portion of the basin draining into Upper Klamath Lake. It simulates daily streamflow, snow, solar radiation, evapotranspiration, surface-water, and groundwater processes within the basin. The model calibration period spanned water years 2000 through 2015, and the model validation period spanned water years 1984 through 1999. The model was calibrated and validated using measured streamflow, snowpack, evapotranspiration, and solar radiation data sets.

USGS met with 13 local groups and organizations around the Portland, Oregon region to collect information regarding the locations of beaver dams in the Tualatin Basin. The local sources had identified beaver dams between 2011 and 2019, and data were compiled by USGS into an ArcGIS shapefile. Often, the local groups did not know the GPS coordinates of beaver dams, but they had identified beaver-affected reaches during that same time period. Therefore, a second shapefile was created to include the locations of beaver activity (including beaver chews, lodges, and dams) in the Tualatin Basin. These data describe the groundwater level elevations compiled for the Columbia Plateau Regional Aquifer Study (CPRAS). The data included are well ids used in the study, the date of each water-level measurement, the groundwater elevation, in feet, in the North American Vertical Datum of 1988 (NAVD 88), the status of each water-level measurement, and the agency that reported each water level.

This data release presents tabular data used and analytical water-level modeling files generated as part of a U.S. Geological Survey study, done in cooperation with the Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation, to evaluate water-level change from a multiple-well aquifer test in well 422 on the Umatilla Indian Reservation near Mission, Oregon. Water-level, pumping, and barometric-pressure data collected during February 1, 2016–April 18, 2016 were used within the accompanying water-level modeling files to estimate drawdown in observation and background wells from the aquifer test. The data presented here contain raw tabular data of water levels, barometric pressure, and pumping rates from the multiple-well aquifer test in well 422 on the Umatilla Indian Reservation near Mission, Oregon. Tabular water-level data contains raw values from 12 wells, raw and processed barometric pressure from two different sites, and raw and simplified discharge from the pumping well (422). Data was collected during February 1, 2016–April 18, 2016 for use within the accompanying water-level modeling files of selected wells to provide estimates of drawdown from the multiple-well aquifer test.

Water-quality data and plankton samples were collected at multiple locations within the Fernhill Natural Treatment wetland and along the Tualatin River, located to the west of Portland, Oregon, during the summers of 2018, 2019 and 2020. Water quality parameters collected include water temperature, specific conductance, dissolved oxygen, pH, turbidity, chlorophyll, and blue green algae. Data were collected to better understand how water discharged from the upstream natural treatment wetland (Fernhill Wetlands) affect algal species and water quality in the Tualatin River.
The USGS has published United States water-use data every five years since 1950. To increase the temporal and spatial availability of water use estimates using nationally consistent methods, the USGS is developing national water-use models for each major water-use category. This data release publishes crop irrigation withdrawals for the conterminous United States (CONUS) that are calculated using modeled irrigation consumptive use (Martin and others, 2023), irrigation efficiencies, and source-water proportions (Dieter and others, 2018). All measurements include location, time, temperature, and depth below water surface, while most also include specific conductivity, dissolved oxygen, and pH.

This data release contains total dissolved solids (TDS) concentrations and specific conductance (SC) measurements collected at surface-water monitoring locations and groundwater monitoring wells within the Upper Colorado River Basin (UCRB) between 1894 and 2022. Discrete TDS and SC results were obtained from the Water Quality Portal (WQP). Continuous SC monitoring results were obtained from the USGS National Water Information System (NWIS). The data set includes 127,294 TDS results that were collected at 12,339 sites between 1900 and 2022, and 705,918 SC results that were collected at 19,630 sites between 1894 and 2022. Chloride deicers have been applied by the Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) to Interstate-5 (I-5) from the Oregon-California border north to mile marker 10 for several years in the high-elevation area known as the Siskiyou Pass. Magnesium chloride (MgCl2) and sodium chloride (NaCl) are applied to keep the interstate safe for drivers and allow for efficient transport of goods and people through adverse weather conditions, particularly snow and ice.
