This study uses growth in vegetation during the monsoon season measured from LANDSAT imagery as a proxy for measured rainfall. NDVI values from 26 years of pre- and post-monsoon season Landsat imagery were derived across Yuma Proving Ground (YPG) in southwestern Arizona, USA. The LANDSAT imagery (1986-2011) was downloaded from USGS’s GlobeVis website (http://glovis.usgs.gov/). Change in NDVI was calculated within a set of 2,843 Riparian Area Polygons (RAPs) up to 1 km in length defined in ESRI ArcMap 10.2.

This metadata references a comma-delimited file describing 492 digitized prints of large-format photographs from 160 viewpoints. The photographic images themselves are referenced in a separate metadata file entitled "Photographs Showing Change in Riparian Vegetation in the Grand Canyon, 1889-2012". The viewpoints were first photographed by Stanton in 1889-1890, and then re-photographed in about 1989-1992 and 2010-2012. This set of photos focuses on change in riparian vegetation and partially overlaps a larger set of Stanton viewpoints re-photographed by Webb and others and available at http://wwwpaztcn.wr.usgs.gov/fscc/stanton-repeat-photography/index.php. The file of descriptive information gives viewpoint stake...
This dataset contains tree-ring data from plains cottonwood (Populus deltoides subsp. monilifera), narrowleaf cottonwood (Populus angustifolia) and their hybrids collected from floodplains within the Wind River Indian Reservation, Wyoming in 2017 and 2018. Samples were collected from trees at three sites: the Wind River upstream of Boysen Reservoir (latitude 43.127 N, longitude -108.232 W), the Wind River downstream of Diversion Dam (latitude 43.219 N, longitude -108.940 W) and Owl Creek near Arapaho Ranch, latitude 43.725 N, longitude -108.570 W. There are 3 files. Cottonwood_Wind_Tree_Data.csv contains descriptive information about each of the sampled trees, Cottonwood_Wind_Ring_Widths contains the tree-ring widths...
The data archive contains the aerial photographs and channel delineations used in our analysis. The images have been geo-referenced to the 1995 digital orthophoto quarter quadrangles as described by Miller and Friedman (2009). The separate images for each year can be viewed as a composite along with that year’s channel delineation using a geographic information system (GIS). The 2003 IKONOS satellite imagery is proprietary and, therefore, cannot be served here. The channel delineations for all photo years (including 2003) and the delineation of the outer flood-plain boundary are stored as shapefiles. These shapefiles can be manipulated using GIS applications to reproduce the spatial analyses reported in Miller and...

In 1990 the US Geological Survey Fort Collins Science Center and National Park Service Water Resources Division established 133 permanent 1meter (m) X 2 m plots along the Gunnison River near Warner Point in Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park. A one-dimensional hydraulic model was calibrated to determine the inundation necessary to inundate each plot, and this can be combined with daily flow data to determine the inundation duration or percentage of time a plot is under water. Occurrence of all plant species in these plots was determined in late July of 1990, 1994, 2001, 2006 and 2013. This data set includes 3 csv files of plot data. One file gives characteristics of plots, including plot name, inundating...
