Colorado Plateau REA MQ E2: Where are the areas with potential to change from wildfire? This map shows current, near-term, and long-term estimates of fire occurrence potential due to human and natural causes. These estimates were developed using a Maxent model of 30 years of human and natural fire occurrences predicted against a variety of surfaces including elevation, lightning density, distance to roads and urban areas, vegetation type, and climate. The only factors that were varied to create the near and long-term estimates were climate.
