Climate grids for the extent of the GNLCC study area saved as asciis with a 2km resolution. These grids are saved in in the Albers Equal Area Conic projection. Summer is defined as months 7-9, while winter is defined as months 1-3. All grids with the exception of cmi.asc, dd5.asc, & growingsl.asc were produced in the program ClimateWNA, which downscales PRISM climate grids using a digital elevation model. Mean annual precipitation (mm) - aprec.asc Annual Climate moisture index (cm/year) - cmi.asc Degree-days > 5°C - dd5.asc Growing season length - growingsl.asc Isothermality (°C) - isotherm.asc Mean annual temperature (°C) - mat.asc Maximum temperature warmest month (°C) - maxtw.asc Minimum temperature coldest...

This study area consists of a 10-km inland buffer of the U. S. Great Lakes shoreline. Islands within the lakes were included in this invasive Phragmites mapping project where remotely sensed imagery scenes were available.

These files were used to construct corridors estimating the extent of new coastal corridors exposed by reduced lake levels. They are included here to show the available horizontal extent of lidar-derived topo-bathymetric data and thus explicitly identify gaps and limitations of predicted corridor extents under various reduced lake level scenarios. In addition, these files provide users with a background layer that depicts the topographic variability of the submerged near-shore lake bed and terrestrial landscape. These files are 5m grid representations of the hydrographic and topographic data collected by the CHARTS system along the coasts of the U.S. sides of Lake Michigan, Lake Huron, Lake St. Clair, Lake Erie,...

Maps of areas greater than 0.2 hectare (0.5 acre) dominated by invasive Phragmites australis were created for the coastal region (shoreline to 10 km inland) of the United States side the Great Lakes and connecting water ways. The maps were developed using unsupervised/supervised classification methods and ground truth data collected during 2010 and 2011 in conjunction with multi-season ALOS PALSAR imagery (for the remote sensing-based iterative classification process), as well as through the interpretation of aerial photography to reduce classification confusion. Overall classification accuracy compared to field data for mapping was approximately 86%.

Grids of principal component gradients and varimax-rotated components 1 & 2 for the extent of the GNLCC study area saved as asciis with a 2km resolution. PC1 and RC1 represent a latitudinal gradient of temperature, while PC2 and RC2 represent a longitudinal gradient of precipitation seasonality and continentality. These grids are saved in in the Albers Equal Area Conic projection. A principal component analysis of the study area was conducted using 12 climate variables. These grids represent site scores for principal components 1 & 2. Following the PCA, variable loadings were rotated using a varimax rotation, and new rotated site scores were developed. While these rotated components are interpretable they do not...

In 2006, the Century Commission for a Sustainable Florida called for an identification of those lands and waters in the state that are critical to the conservation of Florida’s natural resources. In response, the Florida Natural Areas Inventory, University of Florida Center for Landscape Conservation Planning, and Florida Fish & Wildlife Conservation Commission collaborated to produce CLIP - the Critical Lands and Waters Identification Project. CLIP is now being used to inform planning decisions by the Peninsular Florida Landscape Conservation Cooperative, coordinated by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.
