Continuous bedrock core from about 50 sites across CT. Stored in 1100 boxes. This collection has been rescued three times since its formation in the late 1980's. Formerly administrative responsibility was shared between the University of Connecticut Dept. of Geology and Geophysics (now disbanded) and the Dept. of Environmental Protection, Geological and Natural History Survey. The State Survey now houses the collection and is the sole administrator.

The Arkansas Geological Survey (AGS) is the curator for the Norman F. Williams Well Sample Library and maintains well cuttings and core samples as a permanent record of rock strata that have been penetrated by wells drilled in Arkansas. Driller logs housed at the Survey contain the down hole information about the geology in the state. Each log gives the depth in feet along with the discription of material being drilled and the depth it accurs. The logs cover wells drilled in the early 1900’s to 1950’s and dispersed throughout the state giving statewide subsurface information.

This collection includes field notes, interpretive geologic field maps, field station location maps, and other project materials, many of which are unpublished and archived by the Alaska Division of Geological and Geophysical Surveys. These materials have not been reviewed for accuracy, consistency, or completeness. The collection may contain data and documents pertaining to all related fields of geology, including oil and gas, geologic engineering, minerals industry, scientific data, and agency archives.

The 3002’ length core was extracted from the Redstone Quarry in Conway, NH in 1975 as part of an evaluation of geothermal potential produced by the natural decay of several radioactive minerals present in the Jurassic age Conway Granite pluton. The core extracted from the borehole at the Redstone Quarry is the deepest core drilled in New Hampshire. The Redstone Core project was part of a collaboration between the New Hampshire State Geologist and the U.S. Energy Research and Development Administration. Significant geothermal resources were not found. NHGS estimates that approximately half of the original 3002’ foot core remains in core boxes with sufficient documentation tags to identify the depth intervals each...
Collection includes cores extracted over decades by mineral exploration firms as they completed their Maine work or otherwise released their data, covering both public and private lands that were the subject of mineral exploration. These records represent the best public collection of the major mineral exploration efforts of the 1960s-1980s. This collection of 595 scanned core records is accessible through a Google Earth application. Please contact the Maine Geological Survey to discuss access to the collection.

The New Jersey Zinc Company Historical Collection contains details of mining operations at the Austinville-Ivanhoe underground lead-zinc mines located in Wythe County in southwestern Virginia from 1902 to 1981. This site also operated under the name Bertha Mineral Company. The records pertain mainly to the historic Austinville-Ivanhoe underground lead-zinc mines located in Wythe County. The site produced zinc and lead from underground mines in the historic Austinville-Ivanhoe mineral district located in Wythe County. During this nearly 80-year span of continuous mine operations near Austinville, the company also conducted base metals exploration in other regions of Virginia, including the Timberville lead-zinc...
This collection is comprised of legacy DGGS geologic maps that have been converted to the single-map USGS Geologic Map Schema (GeMS; formerly known as NCGMP09). Initial conversions will be conducted on maps in areas with critical mineral potential, benefiting DGGS and USGS critical mineral studies in Alaska. Future additions to this collection will include both converted geologic maps, and new geologic maps created using the GeMS schema.

This dataset contains geologic contacts drawn on 40, 1:24,000 scale topographic maps in central Massachusetts used in preparation for publication of the 1983, 1:250,000 scale bedrock geologic map of Massachusetts. These maps were drawn by Professor Peter Robinson, Department of Geosciences, University of Massachusetts Amherst. The contacts were drawn on these topographic maps in black felt tip pen and are based on geologic mapping done from the 1960's through the 1970's by undergraduate and graduate students and by Professor Robinson himself. Dr. Robinson was the chief compiler for central Massachusetts during the compilation and publication of the 1983 bedrock geologic map of Massachusetts. These blackline maps...

Dataset contains point data describing the results of 1-channel and 12-channel seismic refraction studies mapped at a scale of 1:24,000, from the Maine Geological Survey. The results include the depth to the water and depth to the bedrock. Links are also provided, when available, to the profile graphs for the seismic line.

Geoscientific collections managed by New Jersey Geological and Water Survey are aggregated in the National Digital Catalog to enhance discovery and use of valuable samples and data for further scientific research. Contact information and material access instructions are provided for the individual collections.

This is a collection of unpublished Bouguer gravity maps produced by John Kick as part of his doctoral dissertation in the Geosciences Department at the University of Massachusetts Amherst for 16 quadrangles in central Massachusetts. The maps show the gravity station locations and gravity contours (in 0.5 or 1 mgal increments) hand drawn on a vellum base at 1:48,000 scale. The maps were prepared for the Athol, Belchertown, Bernardston, Greenfield, Millers Falls, Mount Grace, Mount Holyoke, Mount Toby, Northfield, Orange, Petersham, Quabbin Reservoir, Royalston, Shutesbury, Ware and Winsor Dam quadrangles. The maps are archived as tiff images and georeferenced in Lambert Conformal Conic Projection, North American...

Dependable access to critical minerals information is vital to ensuring the continued domestic security and economic prosperity of the United States. At present, Alabama has known deposits, prospects, and occurrences of at least 21 of these commodities, including aluminum, arsenic, barium, beryllium, chromium, cobalt, fluorite, graphite, lithium, magnesium, manganese, platinum group metals (PGMs), rare earth elements (REEs), tantalum, tin, thorium, titanium, uranium, vanadium, zinc, and zirconium; but may have as many 31, including potential occurrences of gallium, germanium, hafnium, indium, lanthanum, nickel, niobium, rhenium, selenium, and yttrium. Although none of these commodities are currently being produced...
