Continuous bedrock core from about 50 sites across CT. Stored in 1100 boxes. This collection has been rescued three times since its formation in the late 1980's. Formerly administrative responsibility was shared between the University of Connecticut Dept. of Geology and Geophysics (now disbanded) and the Dept. of Environmental Protection, Geological and Natural History Survey. The State Survey now houses the collection and is the sole administrator.

This map set contains unpublished maps, cross- sections, and related information archived by the State Geological and Natural History Survey of Connecticut as part of the Survey Library Collection. These materials have not been reviewed for accuracy, consistency, or completeness. For many geographic areas, more current information exists, either in published or unpublished form. For the most part, these materials were developed under research and mapping agreements between the State Geological Survey and individual scientists, academic institutions, or graduate students. Some of these materials have been received by the State Geological Survey as donations. The veracity of the information contained within these...

Geoscientific collections managed by Tennessee Geological Survey are aggregated in the National Digital Catalog to enhance discovery and use of valuable samples and data for further scientific research. Contact information and material access instructions are provided for the individual collections. Please note that all of the downloadable files are in .csv format, which use the pipe symbol (|) as the delimeter.

As coal companies closed business in Indiana many times they deposited their records at the Indiana Geological Survey (IGS). The records in most cases were delivered in boxes or full filing cabinets without documentation. The IGS has preliminarily sorted through the records filing them by company and if possible county or Township-Range to make them discoverable. The records can contain anything from maps, analysis, logs with or without picks, descriptions, correspondence, etc.

The Core Research Center (CRC) was established in 1974 by the USGS to preserve valuable samples of the Earth’s subsurface for use by scientists and educators representing government, industry, and academia. The CRC collections include full-diameter rock cores, slabbed cores (cut in half longitudinally), well cuttings, thin sections, and associated analytical data. A majority of the material was donated to the CRC by private industrial companies, although some cores and cuttings were collected by the USGS and other government agencies. Rock cores were collected from roughly 9,500 drilled borehole locations representing approximately 610,000 meters (2 million feet) of subsurface strata in 35 states. Many of the boreholes...
Collection includes cores extracted over decades by mineral exploration firms as they completed their Maine work or otherwise released their data, covering both public and private lands that were the subject of mineral exploration. These records represent the best public collection of the major mineral exploration efforts of the 1960s-1980s. This collection of 595 scanned core records is accessible through a Google Earth application. Please contact the Maine Geological Survey to discuss access to the collection.

Most projects conducted by the MWRA have attached to them a geotechnical report and accompanying environmental information. There are also eighteen marine drilling reports on work in the Boston Harbor, as well as, two hardbound copies on the Geology of the Waschusett Reservoir Area. All reports are stored in the library at the main facility in Chelsea; however, not all project managers turn over reports to the librarian for storage. Most projects conducted by the MWRA, related to the construction of water and sewer lines, have attached with them, a geotechnical report and accompanying environmental information. Other paper reports include: eighteen marine drilling reports from work in Boston Harbor; as well as two...

The U.S. National Ice Core Laboratory (NICL) is a National Science Foundation (NSF) facility for storing, curating, and studying meteoric ice cores recovered from the glaciated regions of the world; mostly from Antarctica and Greenland. The NICL is funded by the NSF Division of Polar Programs and operated by the USGS; and the NICL’s science operations are managed by the University of New Hampshire. NICL provides scientists with the capability to conduct examinations and measurements on ice cores, and it preserves the integrity of these ice cores in a long-term repository for future investigations. The NICL was established in 1993 and is located at the Denver Federal Center, in Denver, Colorado. The NICL’s primary...

This dataset contains geologic contacts drawn on 40, 1:24,000 scale topographic maps in central Massachusetts used in preparation for publication of the 1983, 1:250,000 scale bedrock geologic map of Massachusetts. These maps were drawn by Professor Peter Robinson, Department of Geosciences, University of Massachusetts Amherst. The contacts were drawn on these topographic maps in black felt tip pen and are based on geologic mapping done from the 1960's through the 1970's by undergraduate and graduate students and by Professor Robinson himself. Dr. Robinson was the chief compiler for central Massachusetts during the compilation and publication of the 1983 bedrock geologic map of Massachusetts. These blackline maps...
