Bailey's Ecoregions of the Conterminous United States This multi-tiered, broad-scale, hierarchical system of ecoregions is based on numerous environmental variables at each level. The first two tiers are based on climate, followed by climate and physiograpghy, and finally topography and soils. This data was used to provide a general description of the ecosystem geography.
