A data management plan (DMP) helps staff identify and plan to support the data management needs of a project. This document provides guidance on how to develop a DMP and identifies the items that should be considered to help ensure that data and associated products are documented, discoverable, accessible and secure throughout their useful lifespan. A DMP: 1) identifies key data management roles, 2) identifies project staff that will fill those roles and perform the associated duties and 3) summarizes how data are acquired, used, maintained and distributed. The Collaborative Forest Landscape Restoration Program (CFLRP) is designed to provide up to 10 years of funding to selected initiatives that will implement a landscape strategy to address the risk of uncharacteristic wildfire, restore ecosystems to pre-fire suppression conditions, improve fish and wildlife habitat, improve watersheds, and reduce invasive species. As such, it provides a tremendous opportunity to look collaboratively at a landscape and ask what can be accomplished relative to the CFLRP objectives over a 10 year timeframe. Fish and Wildlife Service Division of Migratory Bird Management (USFWS DMBM), Alaska Migratory Bird Co-management Council (AMBCC; comprised of the USFWS, Alaska Department of Fish and Game [ADFG], and Alaska Native representatives), Pacific Flyway Council (PFC), and other entities interested in the management, monitoring, and biology of emperor geese. Sport and subsistence hunting of emperor geese was closed in 1986 and 1987, respectively, due to a population decline and conservation concerns. Since the mid-1980s, abundance has increased.
