This is a coverage of the Colorado Plateau coal assessment study area. The study area outline was drawn on the county lines that most closely outline the coal-bearing rocks in the Colorado Plateau Region. The county outlines originate from a national coverage for which lines were extracted from U.S. Census 1990 TIGER/line files using an AML program written by Nebert, D., and Negri, M., USGS-Water Resources Division (WRD), running on two Data General 6220 servers.

Aeromagnetic data were collected along flight lines by instruments in an aircraft that recorded magnetic-field values and locations. This dataset presents latitude, longitude, altitude, and magnetic-field values.
A paper copy of the Geologic Map of the Catalina Core Complexand San Pedro Trough (Dickinson, 1992) was scanned anddigitized by U.S. Geological Survey staff and contractors atthe Southwest Field Office (Tucson, AZ) in 2000-2001 for inputinto an ArcInfo geographic information system (GIS).
