This is a point coverage that contains data for coal and otherstratigraphic horizons in the John Henry Member of the StraightCliffs Formation (Upper Cretaceous) east of 112 degrees oflongitude in the Kaiparowits Plateau. The item map# is the numberon the index map (Figure A, Plate 1) that refers to a record in adata table (Appendix 1) in Hettinger and others (1996). Bufferswere drawn at a three-mile distance from data points in thiscoverage to create the reliability coverage. This coverage alsoincludes arcs representing lines of cross section shown in Figs. B,C, D and E, Plate 1 (Hettinger and others, 1996).

The mining claim density data of federal lands in Oregon are combined with the digital Oregon Public Land Survey (PLS) to create a digital map of the density of mine claims in Open-File Report 99-541. The mining claim density data of federal lands in Oregon was one of 13 western states released in Open-File Report 99-325. The database for Oregon was converted to an Arc/Info file and connected with the PLS by an Arc/Info relate. As stated in OF 99-325, "These mining claim density databases were created from data obtained in March 1997, from the Mining Claim Recordation System (MCRS) of the Bureau of Land Management. These databases provide mining claim density information in a tabular form. They quantify the status...

Unpublished mineral assessment reports of the Colville andOkanogan national forests (Chelan, Ferry, Okanogan, PendOreille, Skagit, Stevens, and Whatcom counties, WA) containdata on 3,934 samples analyzed for gold, silver, copper, lead, zinc, molybdenum, tungsten and uranium. Data presented herewere obtained by R.A. Grant (1982a,b) for an assessment ofthe mineral potential of these national forests during1979-1982 under a contract from the USDA-Forest Service.

Permits to explore for and (or) develop mineral resources onFederal lands can be used to indicate locations and types ofmineral-related activities on national forests. Permits for theseactivities require filing of a Notice of Intent to conduct mineralexploration activities and (or) a Plan of Operation, ifsignificant land disturbance results. This compilation of noticesand plans for the Colville, Kaniksu, Okanogan, and Wenatcheenational forests between 1967 and 1998 is intended for use incombination with geologic and economic information to predictfuture mineral-related activities in the region.

This CD-ROM publication provides a GIS analysis of a summaryterrane map, mineral deposit maps, and metallogenic belt maps forthe Russian Far East, Alaska, Canadian Cordillera and adjacentoffshore areas. This CD-ROM publication is one of a series ofpublications for a large collaborative project on the Major MineralDeposits, Metallogenesis, and Tectonics of the Russian Far East,Alaska, and the Canadian Cordillera. This project is providingcritical information for collaborators and customers on the majormetalliferous mineral resources, metallogenic patterns, and crustalorigin and evolution of mineralizing systems for the region. Themajor collaborating agencies for the project are the RussianAcademy of Sciences, ROSKOMNEDRA,...

This report provides background information on the regionalgeochemical data provided by the US Geological Survey to the USForest Service and Bureau of Land Management Interior ColumbiaBasin Ecosystem Management Project (ICBEMP). This report is one ina series of digital maps, data files, and reports generated by theUS Geological Survey to provide geologic process and mineralresource information to the Interior Columbia Basin EcosytemManagement Project. The various digital maps and data files arebeing used in a GIS-based ecosystem assessment including ananalysis of diverse questions relating to past, present, and futureconditions within the general area of the Columbia River Basin eastof the Cascade Mountains.

This is a polygon coverage containing eleven different attributes of information including net coal thickness and estimated coal tonnages in the Calico and A-sequences in the Kaiparowits Plateau study area. This layer was derived from a "union" process, i.e., intersection and overlay of numerous layers and retaining attributes of each. It is the result of computing the geometric intersection of ten polygon coverages using the Environmental Systems Research Institute, Inc. (ESRI) Arc/Info UNION command, and finally calculating coal tonnage in INFO. Net coal thickness values are from 209 data points and represent all coal beds that are more than 1 foot thick.CARE SHOULD BE TAKEN IN USING THE COAL THICKNESS AND COAL...

This report is one in a series of digital maps, data files, and reports generated by the US Geological Survey to provide geologic process and mineral resource information for the Interior Columbia Basin Ecosystem Management Project (ICBEMP), a US Forst Service and Bureau of Land Management interagency project. The various digital maps and data files which were provided by the USGS, and which are available in this and other reports, are being used in a GIS-based ecosystem assessment which includes a comprehensive analysis of past, present, and future ecosystem conditions within the general area of the Columbia River Basin east of the Cascade Mountains.
