This dataset includes First Snow Date(fsdy) for northern Alaska in GeoTiff format, covering the years 1980-2012. First Snow Date is defined as day of first snow occurrence during the year(day of year). The dataset was generated by the Arctic LCC SNOWDATA: Snow Datasets for Arctic Terrestrial Applications project.“Day-of-year” (doy) output is expressed in Ordinal dates (“1” on 1 January, and “365” on 31 December). Dates have not been corrected for leap years. This output is appropriate for display purposes, as it is readily interpreted as calendar day of year. It is not recommended as input for analysis, as it may produce incorrect statistics; “day-of-simulation” (dos) files should be used for that purpose.“Day-of-year”...

This dataset represents results from this study attributed to the NHDPlus V2 catchments. Changes in climate occurring throughout the Mississippi River Basin are expected to lead to additional impacts in stream habitats and fish assemblages in multiple ways, including changing changing thermal properties and flow regimes. To manage streams for current impacts and future changes, managers need region-wide information for decision-making and developing proactive management strategies. Our project provides a suite of climate metrics that have been found to be relevant to the distribution and population structure of aquatic organisms in freshwater stream networks. These results provide natural resource managers, decision-makers,...

Abstract (from http://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/joc.4127/abstract): Gridded topoclimatic datasets are increasingly used to drive many ecological and hydrological models and assess climate change impacts. The use of such datasets is ubiquitous, but their inherent limitations are largely unknown or overlooked particularly in regard to spatial uncertainty and climate trends. To address these limitations, we present a statistical framework for producing a 30-arcsec (∼800-m) resolution gridded dataset of daily minimum and maximum temperature and related uncertainty from 1948 to 2012 for the conterminous United States. Like other datasets, we use weather station data and elevation-based predictors of temperature,...
The text file "Air temperature.txt" contains hourly data and associated data-source flag from January 1, 1948, to September 30, 2017. The primary source of the data is Argonne National Laboratory (Argonne National Laboratory, 2017) and is processed following the guidelines documented in Over and others (2010). Missing and apparently erroneous data values were replaced with adjusted values from nearby stations used as “backup”. The Illinois Climate Network (Water and Atmospheric Resources Monitoring Program, 2015) station at St. Charles, Illinois is used as "backup". Each data source flag is of the form "xyz" that allows the user to determine its source and the methods used to process the data (Over and others, 2010)....
Watershed Data Management (WDM) database file ARGN18.WDM is an update of ARGN17.WDM (Bera and Over, 2018) with the processed data from October 1, 2017 through September 30, 2018 appended to it. The primary data were downloaded from the Argonne National Laboratory (ANL) (Argonne National Laboratory, 2018) and processed following the guidelines documented in Over and others (2010). ARGN18.WDM file contains nine data series: air temperature, in degrees Fahrenheit (dsn 400), dewpoint temperature, in degrees Fahrenheit (dsn 500), wind speed, in miles per hour (dsn 300), solar radiation, in Langleys (dsn 600), computed potential evapotranspiration, in thousandths of an inch (dsn 200), and four data-source flag series...

This dataset consists of several measures of landscape characteristics, each of which is summarized from raster data within spatial polygons. These spatial polygons represent the land area upstream of sampled stream reaches. These stream reaches were sampled by the Maryland Department of Natural Resources for the Maryland Biological Stream Survey program during survey rounds one, two, and four. Landscape characteristics summarized here are either represented by continuous or discrete raster layers which are summarized as the average value of a given characteristic (continuous data) or the area occupied by each class (discrete data). The continuous datasets summarized included percentage of area occupied by tree...

The continental United States (CONUS) was modeled to produce simulations of historical and potential future streamflow using the Precipitation-Runoff Modeling System (PRMS) application of the USGS National Hydrologic Model Infrastructure (NHMI; Regan and others, 2018). This child page specifically contains the spatial model features (hydrologic response units [HRU_subset.zip] and stream segments [Segments_subset.zip]) on which model inputs and outputs are based. The assembly of model-ready files results in HRU and segment IDs that are different than those in the NHMI database. Two "crosswalk files" (nhm_hru_id_crosswalk.csv, nhm_segment_id_crosswalk.csv) are provided so that the model inputs and outputs can be mapped...
