We determined their critical thermal maximum (CTMax) of four species of Eleutherodactylus frogs (E. wightmanae, E. brittoni, E. antillensis, E. coqui) to understand their response to warming temperatures. Data consist of capture history, body condition, and temperature at which the frog exhibited spasms and erratic behavior, which may impair predator avoidance. Our results underscored the potential vulnerability of Eleutherodactylus species exhibiting lower CTMax to the forecasted warming of tropical zones (e.g., E. wightmanae, E. brittoni).

We estimated global cyanobacterial biomass in the main reservoirs of cyanobacteria on Earth: marine and freshwater plankton, arid land soil crusts, and endoliths. Estimates were based on typical population density values as measured during our research, or as obtained from literature surveys, which were then coupled with data on global geographical area coverage. Among the marine plankton, the global biomass of Prochlorococcus reaches 120 × 10^12 grams of carbon (g C), and that of Synechoccus some 43 × 10^12 g C. Density estimates of four mammal species in the upper subalpine and alpine zones of the Sierra Nevada range, 2008 - 2012. The estimates were derived from variable distance data collected 3-4 per year along each of 21 transects (10 km in length). The transects were randomly selected from a pool of 53 potential routes. Nine transects were sampled in 2008, 12 were sampled in 2009, 19 were sampled in 2010, 21 were sampled in 2011, and 17 were sampled in 2012. All counts were done in July and August each year. The Long Term Resource Monitoring (LTRM) annual fish monitoring began on the Upper Mississippi and Illinois Rivers in 1989. During the first two years samples were collected at a series of fixed sampling sites, then in 1993 a stratified random sampling approach was added to the collection effort. This approach utilizes a computer routine that randomly selects sampling sites from a pool of potential sites that have been categorized by strata (e.g., aquatic habitat type, distance to shore, connectivity to main channel). The results from these collections are stored in an Oracle database at the Upper Midwest Environmental Science Center (UMESC). These new observations, in addition to millions of existing records, were used to model the distribution and abundance of 26 species of land birds in the southern portion of the North Pacific Landscape Conservation Cooperative (NPLCC) region including CA, OR and WA. This data release consists of a single table that includes sample site geographic locations, insect prey abundance, and bat activity and behavior metrics. The dataset was used to develop multi-state occupancy models of foraging habitat use by Hawaiian hoary bats (Lasiurus cinereus semotus).
MethodsStudy area: Our initial study area included the entire globe. We began with a seamless grid of cells with a resolution of 0.5 degrees (i.e., ~50 km at the equator). Next, we created polylines representing coastlines using SRTM (Shuttle Radar Topographic Mission) v4.1 global digital elevation model data at a resolution of 250 m (Reuter et al. 2007). We used these coastline polylines to identify and retain cells that intersected the coast. We excluded 192,227 cells that did not intersect the coast. To avoid cells with minimal potential coastal wetland habitat, we used the coastline data to remove an additional 1,056 coastal cells that contained less than or equal to 5% coverage of land. This folder contains data in three parts. The juvenile coho salmon abundance and survival data consists of fish survey data and the associated analysis, including documentation of the analysis code, methods, and protocols used. Habitat survey data consists of both reach-level (~100 meter sections) and continuous (watershed scale) surveys. The summaries item and its contents include summaries produced from fish and habitat surveys conducted in Mason Creek, tributary of the East Fork Lewis River, SW Washington, during summer of 2017.
This Data Release provides brook trout abundance records for pool habitats within 2 streams in Shenandoah National Park (Staunton River and Paine Run). The data were collected with 3-pass backpack electrofishing conducted during baseflow conditions between 2012-2021. This dataset is three comma-separated values (csv) files containing fish haul information collected during trawl surveys in the Chukchi Sea during the 9 August - 3 September 2015 Arctic Marine Biodiversity Observing Network (AMBON) research cruise. Tables describe haul event information, species occurrence per haul, and fish morphometric information. Fish were collected with a plump-staff beam trawl and Isaac-Kidds midwater trawl, identified to species, and their life stage, length, and weight were measured and recorded. The data was transformed from the native format into a table structure using Darwin Core terms and organized in the OBIS-ENV-DATA format.

This data release includes metadata and tabular data that documents the endangered orangeblack Hawaiian damselfly (Megalagrion xanthomelas) at Kaloko-Honokohau National Historical Park during 2016-2017. Data sets document (1) numbers of damselflies observed during surveys, (2) habitat characteristics of anchialine pools at which damselflies were surveyed, (3) substrates on which female damselflies exhibited egg-laying behavior, and (4) continuous 30-day measurements of temperature and salinity taken at four pools.
