This dataset represents results from this study attributed to the NHDPlus V2 catchments. Changes in climate occurring throughout the Mississippi River Basin are expected to lead to additional impacts in stream habitats and fish assemblages in multiple ways, including changing changing thermal properties and flow regimes. To manage streams for current impacts and future changes, managers need region-wide information for decision-making and developing proactive management strategies. Our project provides a suite of climate metrics that have been found to be relevant to the distribution and population structure of aquatic organisms in freshwater stream networks. These results provide natural resource managers, decision-makers,...

The continental United States (CONUS) was modeled to produce simulations of historical and potential future streamflow using the Precipitation-Runoff Modeling System (PRMS) application of the USGS National Hydrologic Model Infrastructure (NHMI; Regan and others, 2018). This child page specifically contains the spatial model features (hydrologic response units [HRU_subset.zip] and stream segments [Segments_subset.zip]) on which model inputs and outputs are based. The assembly of model-ready files results in HRU and segment IDs that are different than those in the NHMI database. Two "crosswalk files" (nhm_hru_id_crosswalk.csv, nhm_segment_id_crosswalk.csv) are provided so that the model inputs and outputs can be mapped...

The text file "PET.txt" contains the hourly computed potential evapotranspiration (PET) data from January 1, 1948, to September 30, 2015. This data is computed from average daily air temperature, average daily dewpoint temperature, daily unadjusted wind speed, and daily solar radiation using the Fortran program LXPET. This program is documented in detail in Murphy (2005). Reference Cited: Murphy, E.A., 2005, Comparison of potential evapotranspiration calculated by the LXPET (Lamoreux Potential Evapotranspiration) Program and by the WDMUtil (Watershed Data Management Utility) Program: US Geological Survey OpenFile Report 2005-1020, 20p., https://pubs.er.usgs.gov/publication/ofr20051020.
The text file "Air temperature.txt" contains hourly data and associated data-source flag from January 1, 1948, to September 30, 2016. The primary source of the data is the Argonne National Laboratory, Illinois. The data-source flag consist of a three-digit sequence in the form "xyz" that describe the origin and transformations of the data values. They indicate if the data are original or missing, the method that was used to fill the missing periods, and any other transformations of the data. The user of the data should consult Over and others (2010) for the detailed documentation of this hourly data-source flag series. Meteorological Database, Argonne National Laboratory, Illinois, January 1, 1948 - September 30, 2021
This data release is the update of the U.S. Geological Survey - ScienceBase data release by Bera (2021), with the processed data through September 30, 2021. The primary data for water year 2021 (a water year is the 12-month period, October 1 through September 30, in which it ends) is downloaded from the Argonne National Laboratory (ANL) (Argonne National Laboratory, 2022) and is processed following the guidelines documented in Over and others (2010). Daily potential evapotranspiration (PET) in thousandths of an inch is computed from average daily air temperature in degrees Fahrenheit (°F), average daily dewpoint temperature in degrees Fahrenheit (°F), daily total wind movement in miles (mi), and daily total solar...
This digital dataset contains the Central Tendency (CT) climate scenario data used for the Salinas and Carmel Rivers Basin Study (SCRBS). The Central Tendency (CT) climate scenario is based on the 50th percentile change in precipitation, 50th percentile change in temperature. The files included in this child item are the daily 270-meter gridded spatially distributed daily precipitation (PPT), maximum and minimum air temperature (TMX and TMN, respectively), and potential evapotranspiration (PET) from 1/1/2016 to 12/31/2100.
This is a release of data presented in the report "Binational Study of the Transboundary San Pedro Aquifer", Callegary and others, 2016: Callegary, J.B., Minjárez Sosa, I., Tapia Villaseñor, E.M., dos Santos, P., Monreal Saavedra, R., Grijalva Noriega, F.J., Huth, A.K., Gray, F., Scott, C.A., Megdal, S.B., Oroz Ramos, L.A., Rangel Medina, M., Leenhouts, J.M., 2016, Binational Study of the Transboundary San Pedro Aquifer: International Boundary and Water Commission. The United States and Mexico share waters in a number of hydrological basins and aquifers that cross the International Boundary. Both the United States and Mexico recognize that, in a region of scarce water and expanding populations, better...
These data are records collected from six automated weather stations in operation between January 1, 2014 and December 31, 2015 within the Colorado River Corridor of Grand Canyon National Park and Glen Canyon National Recreation Area. Data collection locations, equipment configurations and methods follow those of the original report (OFR 2014-1247). These files are 4-minute interval data for each of the automated weather stations, tab separated by parameter (wind direction, wind speed, wind gusts, air temperature, relative humidity, barometric pressure, and rainfall). Climatic conditions during the reporting period were warm and dry early in 2014 and transitioned to average to slightly above precipitation from mid-2014...

This dataset contains hourly average groundwater level time-series for 19 monitoring wells at the Panola Mountain Research Watershed (PMRW) from January 2001 to October 2002. The data was used in a hydrologic modeling study to test a model formulation that allowed for bi-direction fluxes between groundwater and surface water in a bucket type hydrologic model. Some wells had missing data so record lengths were not equal. The water level data were quality controlled; unexplained peaks and shifts were removed, and these periods were indicated as having no data. The modeling study used average water level data from the riparian area and from the entire catchment for calibration. Riparian groundwater levels were calculated...
The following spreadsheets contain pressure and temperature recorded by the barologgers (atmospheric measure) and leveloggers (stream measure) at each stream gauge. Temperature and pressure from stream gauges are needed to calculate discharge, which was in turn needed to calibrate the hydrologic model used in this project.
Founding populations of the first Americans likely occupied parts of Beringia during the Last Glacial Maximum (LGM) (1). The timing, pathways, and modes of their southward transit remain unknown, but blockage of the interior route by North American ice sheets between ~26-14 cal kyr BP (ka) favors a coastal route during this period. Using models and paleoceanographic data from the North Pacific, we identify climatically favorable intervals when humans could have plausibly traversed the Cordilleran coastal corridor during the terminal Pleistocene. Model simulations suggest that northward coastal currents strengthened during the LGM and at times of enhanced freshwater input, making southward transit by boat more difficult....
These data (all data tables for the data release) represent a suite of biotic and abiotic variables that characterized plant communities and the geologic, geomorphic, edaphic, climatic, and land use history context in which distinct plant communities occur. In 2009, the National Park Service's Inventory and Monitoring program for the Northern Colorado Plateau Network (NCPN) began measuring vegetation cover and site characteristics at monitoring plots stratified across different vegetation types within national parks on the Colorado Plateau. NCPN biologists remeasured vegetation cover at these plots in a rotating panel over the following decade. In 2019, U. S. Geological Survey geologists and soil scientists collected/compiled...
Salt marshes are environmental ecosystems that contribute to coastal landscape resiliency to storms and rising sea level. Ninety percent of mid-Atlantic and New England salt marshes have been impacted by parallel grid ditching that began in the 1920s–40s to control mosquito populations and to provide employment opportunities during the Great Depression (James-Pirri and others, 2009; Kennish, 2001). Continued alteration of salt marsh hydrology has had unintended consequences for salt marsh sustainability and ecosystem services. Great Barnstable Marsh (Barnstable, Cape Cod, Massachusetts) has areas of salt marsh that were ditched as well as natural areas. The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) measured parameters for groundwater...
The Monthly Projected Air Temperature (TAIR) data sets are part of the downscaled global climate models created for the 2008 California climate change assessment. These files are made from daily data and are monthly mean values in degrees Celsius. TAIR layers have been created through a Bias Corrected Statistical Downscaling (BCSD) approach and are currently available for the cnrmcm3, gfdlcm21, ncarccsm3, and ncarpcm1 models under the A2 and B1 scenarios. The BCSD data cover 31.9375N to 43.9375N and 124.5625W to 113.0625W. The VIC grid is a 1/8th degree grid so this makes a "box" of 93 longitudes by 97 latitudes. The VIC computations are done over land only. For the 93x97 box there would be a total of 9021 points...
Understanding snow conditions is key to developing a better understanding of hydrologic, biological, and ecosystem processes at work in northern Alaska. The required snow datasets currently do not exist at spatial or temporal scales needed by end users such as scientists, land managers, and policy makers. There are a wide variety of snow datasets that may be generated by this project. The list of desired datasets will be refined based on input from potential end users. However, outputs could include daily spatial distributions spanning the spatial and temporal domains of interest of the following variables: air temperature, wind speed and direction, relative humidity, surface (skin) temperature, incoming solar radiation,...
