We propose a regional assessment of aquatic species vulnerabilities and responses to climate change as the basis for adaptive management for aquatic ecosystems in the Great Northern LCC, using the Transboundary Flathead Ecosystem as a case example. This region encompasses a complex mix of federal, state, tribal, and private lands in the US and federal, provincial and private lands in Canada. The complex suite of ownerships, international relations, and agency objectives establish their own set of challenges; however, all will experience a similar range of climatic (e.g., long-term drought and declining snow pack) and non-climatic (e.g., habitat fragmentation, shifting land- and water use patterns, and invasive species)...

LC MAP, the Landscape Conservation Management and Analysis Portal, allows GNLCC partners to discover, use, develop, manage, and distribute datasets that address LCC priority issues. In FY11, this effort will extend LCMAP to allow users to generate dynamic interactive map viewers, modeled output, and web services for use in ArcExplorer and other client tools. In addition, the project will build the LCMAP Phenology Service, adding ESRI image services to the application suite and allowing GIS analysts and modelers access to a full suite of phenology data for use in ArcMap and other client tools. The set of data development and presentation tools planned will allow GIS analysts in the GNLCC community to work with multiple...

For the Crown of the Continent Ecosystem (CCE), the riparian ecosystem was classified using three existing layers: I) a streams network, II) a water class of the landcover layer, and III) a 22 meter digital elevation model (DEM).NOTE: There were minor issues with data integrity, as the water class of the landcover layer and the streams layer were not mutually exclusive: it was found that lakes were often represented as streams. (i) Stream network was rasterized (Polyline to Raster tool) after the features were dossolved. (ii) Rasters from each of the streams and lake classes are added together for full hydrology. Riparian classification systems are based typically on two to three characteristics, depending on the...

This dataset represents the watersheds present within the 50 km buffer of the Crown of the Continent Ecosystem (CCE) boundary. This dataset was developed by the Crown Managers Partnership, as part of a transboundary collaborative management initiative for the Crown of the Continent Ecosystem, based on commonly identified management priorities that are relevant at the landscape scale. The CMP is collaborative group of land managers, scientists, and stakeholder in the CCE. For more information on the CMP and its collaborators, programs, and projects please visit: http://crownmanagers.org/

This data set contains imagery from the National Agriculture Imagery Program (NAIP). The NAIP program is administered by USDA FSA and has been established to support two main FSA strategic goals centered on agricultural production. These are, increase stewardship of America's natural resources while enhancing the environment, and to ensure commodities are procured and distributed effectively and efficiently to increase food security. The NAIP program supports these goals by acquiring and providing ortho imagery that has been collected during the agricultural growing season in the U.S. The NAIP ortho imagery is tailored to meet FSA requirements and is a fundamental tool used to support FSA farm and conservation programs....
This map depicts the proportion of non-Sage-grouse habitat within 5km of each pixel. The map was produced using a moving window analysis on the Distribution of Non-Sage Grouse Habitat in the Conservation Assessment Area with a search radius of 5km. The product of the moving window was the mean pixel value within the window. This map has a 540m resolution.

The mapping of land capability for forestry is based on a national classification system comparable with the other Canada Land Inventory sectors. Land is rated according to seven classes on its capability to grow commercial timber in areas stocked with the optimum number and species of trees. This rating considers the land in its natural state, without improvements such as fertilization, drainage, or amelioration practices. This dataset contains Land Capability Ratings for the surveyed portions of the province of Alberta, for areas north of 56 degrees N latitude (Alberta is divided into two datasets due to file size constraints). Land ratings and classes may change, however, significant changes will only be achieved...

This dataset contains Canada's national forest inventory (CanFI) 2001 data for plots within the boreal region of the province of Alberta, Canada. The attribute displayed is percent forested. Refer to the "attributes" tab to view other attributes contained in this dataset. For more information, refer to the CanFI 2001 document at: http://dsp-psd.pwgsc.gc.ca/collection_2007/nrcan-rncan/Fo143-2-408E.pdf From CanFI: Canada's existing national forest inventory (CanFI) is compiled about every five years by aggregating provincial and territorial forest management inventories and reconnaissance level information. Stand-level data provided by the provincial and territorial management agencies are converted to a national...
The datatset is a compilation of all permanent (legally established) protected areas in Alberta, Canada.
