This metadata record documents 11 comma delimited tables representing the amount of reported best management practice (BMP) implementation for the years from 1985 to 2014 at three geographic scales: county or land-river modeling segment, River Input Monitoring (RIM) station drainage areas, and the entire Chesapeake Bay Watershed (CBWS). Data originated from the Chesapeake Bay Watershed jurisdictions including Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Delaware, New York, West Virginia, and the District of Columbia. Data were reported to the Chesapeake Bay Program for an annual review of progress toward meeting nitrogen, phosphorus, and sediment reduction goals.

This data was initially researched and compiled by Dr. Michael A. Schroeder, research biologist for the Washington State Department of Fish and Wildlife. This dataset represents the 2006 parturition areas for pronghorn in Wyoming as mapped by the Wyoming Game and Fish Department. Delineated parturition areas indicate areas with seasonally high concentrations of birthing animals. Boundaries are based on systematic and opportunistic long-term observation data. Depending on location and habitat conditions, birthing often occurs over dispersed areas. Such areas are not mapped as parturition areas.

This dataset contains the predicted distributions of 445 terrestrial vertebrate species in Wyoming, created in a GIS modeling process using species habitat association rules in combination with species geographic range. Because of the large size of this dataset, it is distributed in two ways (complete, statewide), and tiled into 56 1:100,000-scale quadrangles units which are small enough to be utilized in the PC Arc/Info or ArcView environment.

In this study, we present a methodology that identifies acoustic units in Gunnison's prairie dog alarm calls and then uses those units to classify the alarm calls and bouts according to the species of predator that was present when the calls were vocalized. While traditional methods measure specific acoustic parameters in order to describe a vocalization, our method uses the variation in the internal structure of a vocalization to define possible information structures. Using a simple representation similar to that used in human speech to identify vowel sounds, a software system was developed that uses this representation to recognize acoustic units in prairie dog alarm calls. The Wyoming Cooperative Fish and Wildlife Research Unit was authorized by the United States Congress in 1977. There are five cooperators: (1) U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), (2) U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS), (3) University of Wyoming (UW), (4) Wyoming Game and Fish Department (WGFD), and (5) Wildlife Management Institute. Viral hemorrhagic septicemia virus (VHSV) is an aquatic rhabdovirus causing severe disease in numerous freshwater and saltwater fish species. Initially the virus was been found to cause disease in European fish populations starting around 1938 and was first detected in North America in the late 1980s. This metadata record documents 2 comma delimited tables representing output from the Chesapeake Bay Program Phase 5.3.2 Watershed Model. The effect of best management practices (BMP) in 2014 in the Chesapeake Bay Watershed (CBWS) is estimated through a series of model scenarios that isolate the effect of individual BMPs. Data include a table describing the series of isolation scenarios and the summarized output of all scenarios. Scenario output include the estimated nitrogen, phosphorus, and sediment mass reductions for each BMP. Analysis of BMP implementation over time can provide insight to water quality restoration progress.
Some animals have the cognitive capacity to differentiate between different species of predators and generate different alarm calls in response. However, the presence of any addition information that might be encoded into alarm calls has been largely unexplored. In the present study, three similar-sized human females walked through a Gunnison's prairie dog (Cynomys gunnisoni) colony wearing each of three different-colored shirts: blue, green, and yellow. The Fish and Wildlife Observation feature class represents observations of aquatic and terrestrial animals made by sight, sound, and other detection methods. It includes locations where animals were found. It does not include surveyed places where the animal was looked for and not found. Data originated primarily from the NRIS Wildlife and Aquatic Surveys applications. The feature class includes the observation location on land or water and the attributes defined in this document. Please note that all listed status fields are dependent on FS units having entered status information into the NRIS TAXA application. A null value does not necessarily indicate an unlisted status.
