A digital model of the sedimentary Northern Atlantic Coastal Plain aquifer system is composed of 20 rasters and hydrogeologic unit extent polygons. Rasters describe the top elevations of regional aquifers and confining units at a resolution of 2640 feet (1/2 mile). The rasters are clipped to the extent polygons, which represent the spatial extents of the hydrogeologic units onshore and several miles offshore. This three-dimensional hydrogeologic model was constructed as part of a U.S. Geological Survey Groundwater Resources Program study of groundwater availability in the Northern Atlantic Coastal Plain (NACP) aquifer system, including parts of New York, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, and North Carolina....

A steady state three-dimensional groundwater flow (MODFLOW-2005) and advective transport (MODPATH6) model was developed to examine subsurface travel times to wells and receiving streams in two subcatchments contributing to the Upper Chester River, Maryland. The model was calibrated to conditions from 1990 to 2005, the period for which groundwater levels, stream discharge measurements, and atmospheric tracer measurements were jointly available. A three-dimensional groundwater flow model (MODFLOW2000) of the Atlantic Coastal Plain aquifers and confining units was developed to evaluate groundwater availability and to forecast the potential effects of climate change on groundwater levels in the study area. Two existing groundwater flow models that simulated flow and water use in the Coastal Plain aquifers of North Carolina (NC), South Carolina (SC), and parts of Georgia and Virginia, were combined and updated to provide a single model.
