Karst hydrologic systems are important resources in the state of Tennessee both as drinking water resources and as centers for possible biological diversity. These systems are susceptible to contamination due to the inherent connectivity between surface water and groundwater systems in karst systems. A partnership between the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) and Tennessee Department of Conservation (TDEC) was formed to investigate karst spring systems across the state utilizing fluorescent groundwater tracing, particularly in areas where these resources may be used as drinking water sources. In fall 2021, USGS and TDEC staff identified possible vulnerabilities or complexities that may exist within karst spring systems...

This location is part of the Arizona Mineral Industry Location System (AzMILS), an inventory of mineral occurences, prospects and mine locations in Arizona. Graham99 is located in T6S R27E Sec 5 SW in the Safford - 15 Min quad. This collection consists of various reports, maps, records and related materials acquired by the Arizona Department of Mines and Mineral Resources regarding mining properties in Arizona. Information was obtained by various means, including the property owners, exploration companies, consultants, verbal interviews, field visits, newspapers and publications. Some sections may be redacted for copyright. Please see the access statement.

This data release is a geochemical data set from the reanalysis of 23 rock and 85 sediment samples collected between 1966 and 1970 by the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) for a series of studies investigating the mineral resources of the Idaho Primitive Area (Cater et al., 1973). The samples are from the upper Middle Fork Salmon River and the South Fork Salmon River, including the tributaries of East Fork of the South Fork and Porphyry Creek. The overall objective of this study is to characterize the regional impact of legacy mining for the Frank Church - River of No Return Wilderness Area. In 1980 the U. S. Congress passed the Central Idaho Wilderness Act which combined the Idaho Primitive Area, the Salmon Rivers...

Spreadsheet used to calculate Highway Site characteristics (Drainage area, slope and impervious fraction) for the Stochastic Empirical Loading Dilution Model (SELDM) . The spreadsheet was used in conjunction with the SELDM simulations used in the publication: Stonewall, A.J., and Granato, G.E., 2019, Assessing potential effects of highway and urban runoff on receiving streams in total maximum daily load watersheds in Oregon using the Stochastic Empirical Loading and Dilution Model: U.S. Geological Survey Scientific Investigations Report 2019-5053, 116 p., https://doi.org/10.3133/sir20195053.

To better understand the potential pesticide exposure, samples were collected from locations along two creeks in Pinnacles National Park and four creeks in nearby Bureau of Land Management (BLM) lands. Silicone bands were used as passive sampling devices (PSD) staked in the creek and above in the air (above the water line). Sampling was conducted in the summer from 2019 to 2021. PSDs were deployed for 2 to 4 weeks and sediment was collected once in 2020. PSDs were extracted via sonication with an organic solvent and sediment was extracted via pressurized liquid extraction and solid phase extraction cleanup. Samples were analyzed for 168 pesticides and degradates using both gas and liquid chromatography-tandem mass...

The dataset contains GPS survey data from two surveys conducted after a flow event on February 15, 2019, at the USGS continuous slope-area (CSA) gage 09484201 - Bear Creek above Bear Canyon Road, near Tucson, AZ. The CSA gage is located downstream from Pima County Regional Flood Control District ALERT gage 2184 - Bear Canyon Wash near Bear Canyon Rd. The first survey, on February 19, 2019, documents cross section geometry and high-water marks from the flow event and sensor locations in the CSA reach, as well as one high-water mark, a USGS bench mark, and the ALERT sensor at the ALERT gage. The second survey, on May 17, 2019, documents cross section geometry, an additional high-water mark, and the ALERT sensor at...
