The Tok project area is adjacent to the Delta mineral belt volcanogenic massive-sulfide (VMS) district, the Peak gold-silver-copper skarn, and structurally controlled gold and antimony mineralization in the Stibnite Creek and White Gold areas. The project area also includes the Noah prospect, an intrusion-related copper prospect. Whereas the Delta mineral belt has been extensively mapped and explored, the detailed mapping does not continue into the 2015 Tok project area. The Alaska Division of Geological & Geophysical Surveys (DGGS), in partnership with the U.S. National Cooperative Geologic Mapping Program, mapped approximately 450 mi2 of the Talkeetna Mountains region of central Alaska at 1:50,000 scale over the course of six weeks in 2014. This area contains significant exposures of Late Triassic mafic volcanics and gabbro sills that have been the focus of region-wide exploration for the Strategic and Critical platinum-group elements (PGEs). This map shows the subcrop pattern of the Mesozoic rock units present at the top Mesozoic unconformity (also commonly referred to as the base Tertiary unconformity) in Cook Inlet basin, Alaska. The subcrop is projected onto the top Mesozoic unconformity depth surface of Cook Inlet basin, Alaska, published by Shellenbaum and others (2010). Publicly available geologic and geophysical data from multiple sources were collected, interpreted, and integrated into the subcrop map. In support of the proposed Susitna-Watana Hydroelectric Project, the Alaska Division of Geological & Geophysical Surveys (DGGS) developed a Geographic Information System (GIS)-based geologic compilation of published and unpublished maps for twelve, inch-to-mile (1:63,360-scale) quadrangles encompassing the proposed hydroelectric project footprint, including the anticipated reservoir and surrounding area. DGGS geologists reviewed and analyzed existing geologic mapping for quality and completeness, and the maps were converted for use in GIS. Report of Investigation 2006-2, "Bedrock geologic map of the Liberty Bell area, Fairbanks A-4 Quadrangle, Bonnifield mining district, Alaska," is the bedrock geologic map of an approximately 131-square-mile area surrounding the Liberty Bell Mine. The geology of the Liberty Bell area, located in the northern Alaska Range foothills, comprises Devonian metasedimentary and meta-igneous rocks of the Totatlanika Schist and Keevy Peak formations, Cretaceous and Tertiary igneous rocks, and overlying unconsolidated Tertiary sedimentary rocks of the Usibelli Group and the younger Nenana Gravel.

Late Triassic mafic to ultramafic intrusions in the Wrangellia terrane are host to magmatic sulfide nickel-copper-cobalt and platinum-group element (PGE) mineralization. DGGS's mineral-resources group carried out a geologic mapping project in the eastern Denali Highway region between Watana Creek and Paxson from July 29 through August 7, 2015.
