The distribution of unspecified waterfowl habitat in coastal British Columbia showing relative abundance (RA) by season and overall relative importance (RI). RI is based on project region and not on the province as a whole. British Columbia has been collecting coastal resource data in a systematic and synoptic manner since 1979. Resource information is collected using peer-reviewed provincial Resource Information Standards Committee which include standards for data management and analysis
Conservation properties in the East Kootenay, West Kootenay and North Columbia. The data includes BC Government, Canadian Wildlife Service, FWCP, NCC, The Land Conservancy, Nature Trust, Fee Simple and TAC properties. This dataset excludes covenants & other agreements. (Non-OGL version)
This data represents areas of forest damage due to insect infestation, fire, flood, landslides, and windthrow. The information was collected by aerial surveys by both the USFS and ADNR, Div. of Forestry in cooperation with the Forest Health Protection (FHP) project. Surveys are conducted primarily in July and August so that pest signatures may be identified during the optimal period for symptom development of ocular estimation. The aerial survey is coordinated with known pest outbreaks so that the maximum extent of recent bark beetle damage (fading trees) and insect defoliation (discoloration, foliage loss) patterns may be determined. Aerial survey flights are termed as local if they can be completed within 1 day...
Ecoregions denote areas of general similarity in ecosystems and in the type, quality, and quantity of environmental resources. They are designed to serve as a spatial framework for the research, assessment, management, and monitoring of ecosystems and ecosystem components. These general purpose regions are critical for structuring and implementing ecosystem management strategies across federal agencies, state agencies, and nongovernment organizations that are responsible for different types of resources within the same geographical areas. The approach used to compile this map is based on the premise that ecological regions can be identified through the analysis of patterns of biotic and abiotic phenomena, including...

NPS is transforming the way natural resource information is managed and delivered to parks, partners, and the public. "IRMA," the Integration of Resource Management Applications, is the name given to the project that is guiding this transformation. The Natural Resource Information Portal (http://nrinfo.nps.gov) is the gateway to the project's results. NRInfo is the beginning steps towards having a "one-stop" for data and information on park-related natural resources. From the portal you can search for, view, and download documents, reports, publications, data sets, park species lists, and links to additional data sources. No logins or passwords are needed.
The geographic information system (GIS) format spatial data set of vegetation for Buffalo National River (BUFF) was created for the National Park Service (NPS) Vegetation Inventory Program (VIP). The BUFF administrative boundary covers an area of nearly 38,000 ha. The map classification scheme used to create the vegetation data set is designed to represent local vegetation types at the finest level possible using the National Vegetation Classification Standard (NVCS) Version 2. Physiognomic information was also recorded, including height (woody vegetation), canopy density, and coverage patterns. The vegetation data set was developed by interpreting aerial photographs collected in October of 2006 and extensive field...
This dataset was derived from 'NatureServe L48 ESLF V2.7'. See process steps for additional information. The dataset represents the work of multiple states and Federal agencies as part of the US Gap Analysis and LandFire programs. Multi-season satellite imagery (Landsat ETM+) from 1999-2001 were used in conjunction with digital elevation model (DEM) derived datasets (e.g. elevation, landform) to model natural and semi-natural vegetation. The minimum mapping unit for this dataset is approximately 1 acre. Landcover classes are drawn from NatureServe's Ecological System concept. Five-hundred and fourty-four land cover classes composed of 12 cultural and 532 Natural/Semi-natural types are described. Land cover classes...

MBR Assessment Desert Tortoise Habitat Connectivity Model - normalized and converted to a 0-100 scale. This data is a model of potential habitat connectivity for the Mojave desert tortoise (Gopherus agassizii) for the Mojave Basin and Range ecoregion. Methods for developing this data set: The connectivity modeling software Circuitscape 3.5.7 was used to develop the desert tortoise model. The two inputs needed to model tortoise habitat connectivity with this software were developed in ArcGIS 10. Habitat Input: The USGS model for desert tortoise habitat potential was used to create a series of 167 points representing tortoise habitat throughout the Mojave Basin and Range ecoregion. Areas with high habitat potential...
This simple assessment raster is used to answer management questions (MQs) about where change agents (CAs) overlap with sensitive soils (SS) in the Central Great Basin and Range ecoregion. This is a basic footprint assessment of anthropogenic features (urban development, roads, etc) intersect with the areas that were modeled by NatureServe to represent nine types of sensitive soils. It does not model actual response or condition of the SS to the CAs. The data intersects two primary classes of information: The CAs consist of 19 classes which represent different types of human infrastructure on the landscape. Some types are easily defined, precise footprints (pipelines, roads, energy development areas) while others...

This raster is used to answer the management question (MQ) regarding areas of low potential for renewable energy development (solar, wind, geothermal) that could potentially mitigate impacts to CEs from potential energy development in the Central Basin and Range Ecoregion. The value indicated in the raster represents a score between 0-100, the lower values indicating areas of poor landscape condition (ecological integrity). The higher the score, better landscape conditions are expected. Areas in the middle of the spectrum likely offer areas that present opportunities for mitigation under the logic that these areas are likely to be mildly impacted by change agents and therefore present opportunities for mitigation/restoration....

This dataset contains the physical collection information (e.g., sample location, date, gear type) and microsatellite DNA genotype of egg and larval Lake Sturgeon collected in the St. Clair and Detroit rivers in 2015 and 2016. Individuals were genotyped for 18 microsatellite loci (13 disomic and 5 polysomic). Alleles (base pair sizes) were recorded as presence absence scores (1:present, 2:absent, 0:missing data) for all previously observed alleles. Thus individual genotypes were recorded as pseudo diploid dominant phenotypes resulting in individual vectors of length n=205 for each genotyped egg or larval individual.

Several bureaus within the Department of Interior compiled available information from seabird observation datasets from the Atlantic Outer Continental Shelf into a single database, with the goal of conducting research and informing coastal and offshore planning activities. The cooperators were the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management's (BOEM) Environmental Studies Program (http://www.boem.gov/Environmental-Stewardship/Environmental-Studies/Environmental-Studies.aspx), the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service's (USFWS) Division of Migratory Bird Management (http://www.fws.gov/migratorybirds/) and the U.S. Geological Survey's (USGS) Patuxent Wildlife Research Center (http://www.pwrc.usgs.gov). The resulting product is the...

The purpose of the Coral Reef Evaluation and Monitoring Project (CREMP) is to monitor the status and trends of selected reefs in the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary(FKNMS). CREMP assessments have been conducted annually at fixed sites since 1996 and data collected provides information on the temporal changes in benthic cover and diversity of stony corals and associated marine flora and fauna. The core field methods continue to be underwater videography and timed coral species inventories. Findings presented in this report include data from 109 stations at 37 sites sampled from 1996 through 2008 in the Florida Keys and 1999 through 2008 in the Dry Tortugas. The report describes the annual differences (between...
