The British Columbia Marine Conservation Analysis (BCMCA) is a collaborative project assembling and analyzing spatial information about Canada's Pacific Ocean. The overall goal of the BCMCA is to identify marine areas of high conservation value and marine areas important to human use. Results of the project are intended to inform and help advance marine planning initiatives in BC by providing collaborative, peer-reviewed scientific analyses based on the best ecological and socio-economic spatial data at scales relevant to a BC coast-wide analysis.
ClimateWNA was used to downscale historical data and future climate projections to a 1-km 2 grid. ClimateWNA is a program that generates both directly calculated and derived climate variables for specific locations across western North America (Wang et al. 2012) using Parameter-elevation Regressions on Independent Slopes Model (PRISM). We generated annual, seasonal and monthly climate data for the period 1961 to 1990. For future climate projections, we used the SRES A2 greenhouse-gas emissions scenario from the IPCC Fourth Assessment Report. Assessment Watersheds are mesoscale aquatic units designed to replace the 3rd order 1:50K watersheds. Assessment Watersheds are based on groupings of fundamental watersheds using FWA watershed code and local code, with a target size of between 2,000ha and 10,000ha. Data prepared as a part of the BC Freshwater Atlas.

The National Hydro Network (NHN), for which the standard was officially adopted by the Canadian Council on Geomatics (CCOG) in August 2004, focuses on providing a quality geometric description and a set of basic attributes describing Canada's inland surface waters. Level 1A Raw Image Data from SPOT 5 and SPOT 4 satellite. These images were used to create the orthoimages for the product GeoBase Orthoimage 2005-2010. Images of Raw Imagery GeoBase 2005-2010 product are raster digital date coming from SPOT 4 and SPOT 5 satellites that contain a panchromatic band with 10 meter pixels and four multispectral bands with 20 meter pixels. These images were used to produce the orthoimages of the GeoBase Orthoimage 2005-2010 product. These images are not georeferenced. This dataset was developed as part of the research for a Royal Roads University master's thesis entitled "Assessing the impact of human activities on British Columbia’s estuaries". The work was also published through PLOS One (Robb, 2014). The estuary polygons were created by the Pacific Estuary Conservation Program (PECP). Please see Ryder et al., 2007 for more information on their creation. This dataset includes a subset of the PECP estuary dataset because only those estuary polygons that could be linked to to a unique watershed were considered in the analysis. The 'REA Gold Corporation Corporate Profile and Annual Report 1983' file is part of the A. F. Budge Mining Ltd. Mining collection. A. F. Budge Mining Ltd., a British company owned by Tony Budge, controlled properties across several western U. S. states and northern Mexico. The company was active in Arizona during the 1980s and into the early 1990s. The collection consists of economic geologic information including maps, logs, reports and records. A few properties make up most of the collection: Vulture, United Verde Extension and Korn Kob.

A nationally compiled dataset containing provincial Forest Tenures/Forest Management Areas and other administrative areas where rights to establish, grow, harvest or remove timber from a particular area of land has been granted. Each province has different boundary definitions and/or harvesting practices which prevents this dataset from having a standard defined tenure unit for all of Canada (See data source below). British Columbia was the only province where tenure boundaries had to be complied from several different sources in order to have a definable tenure unit comparable to other provinces (see NOTES below). This dataset covers Forest Tenures and Management Areas for the province of British Columbia.
The central objective of this project was to answer two questions: 1) how downscaled climate datasets, modeled vegetation changes, and information on estimated species sensitivities can be used to develop climate change adaptation strategies, and 2) how model results and datasets can be made more useful for informing the management of species and landscapes.
