The Assessment Unit is the fundamental unit used in the National Assessment Project for the assessment of undiscovered oil and gas resources. The Assessment Unit is defined within the context of the higher-level Total Petroleum System. The Assessment Unit is shown here as a geographic boundary interpreted, defined, and mapped by the geologist responsible for the province and incorporates a set of known or postulated oil and (or) gas accumulations sharing similar geologic, geographic, and temporal properties within the Total Petroleum System, such as source rock, timing, migration pathways, trapping mechanism, and hydrocarbon type. The Assessment Unit boundary is defined geologically as the limits of the geologic...

The Pod (or pods) of Mature Source Rock is a critical element of the Total Petroleum System and incorporates all source rocks that potentially have generated hydrocarbons within the system. The Pod(s) of Mature Source Rock is shown here as a geographic boundary defined and mapped by the geologist responsible for the province, and incorporates the known limit of thermally mature, organic-rich source rock(s) that is responsible for generating and expelling discovered and undiscovered petroleum accumulations, shows, or seeps within the Total Petroleum System. The Pod(s) of Mature Source Rock boundary was mapped by the province geologist after studying the extent of the source rock facies and the temperature and burial...

This point shapefile approximates locations within 20 km of the North Pacific Coastline, as defined by the "World Country Boundaries (Generalized)" shapefile distributed by ESRI as part of their Data & Maps data series. They are based on raster data at 4 km resolution. Therefore there are between 3-5 points extending out from each location along the shoreline (at 4 km intervals).

The USGS Central Region Energy Team assesses oil and gas resources of the United States. The onshore and State water areas of the United States comprise 71 provinces. Within these provinces, Total Petroleum Systems are defined and Assessment Units are defined and assessed. Each of these provinces is defined geologically, and most province boundaries are defined by major geologic changes. The San Joaquin Basin Province is located in south-central California, encompassing all or parts of Fresno, Kern, Kings, Madera, Merced, Monterey, San Benito, San Luis Obispo, Stanislaus, and Tulare counties. The main population centers within the study area are Bakersfield, Fresno, and Modesto. The province boundary was drawn to...

The risk mapping effort was initiated in 1995 with the formation of a group of specialists from several disciplines including representatives from state and other federal agencies to map and identify risk to insect caused tree mortality. An area is defined to be at risk if 25% or more tree mortality (beyond the normal level of approximately 0.6% annually) is expected over the next 15 years. This effort developed a statewide insect mortality risk layer based upon rules and statistics developed for the National forests and expanded to cover all state and private forest land. Rule structures were based primarily upon stand density index and also included, precipitation, percent canopy cover of host species, and host...

This dataset provides site locations as shapefile points. The format is a shapefile for all sites combined (.shp, .shx, .dbf, and .prj files). This dataset is part of a larger data release of metabolism model inputs and outputs for 356 streams and rivers across the United States (https://doi.org/10.5066/F70864KX). The complete release includes: modeled estimates of gross primary productivity, ecosystem respiration, and the gas exchange coefficient; model input data and alternative input data; model fit and diagnostic information; site catchment boundaries and site point locations; and potential predictors of metabolism such as discharge and light availability.

This data release component contains shapefiles of river basin polygons and monitoring site locations coincident with the outlets of those basins. A table of basin attributes is also supplied. Attributes, observations, and weather forcing data for these basins were used to train and test the stream temperature prediction models of Rahmani et al. (2021b).<\p>

Cell maps for each oil and gas assessment unit were created by the USGS to illustrate the degree of exploration, type of production, and distribution of production in an assessment unit or province. Each cell represents a quarter-mile square of the land surface, and the cells are coded to represent whether the wells included within the cell are predominantly oil-producing, gas-producing, both oil and gas-producing, dry, or the type of production of the wells located within the cell is unknown. The well information was initially retrieved from the IHS Energy Group, PI/Dwights PLUS Well Data on CD-ROM, which is a proprietary, commercial database containing information for most oil and gas wells in the U.S. Cells were...

This data set depicts the facility point features (i.e. gates, boat launches, blinds) at the Colusa National Wildlife Refuge in Colusa County, California. This facilties dataset was heads-up digitized using aerial imagery. Certain facility features (gates) were snapped to the Sacramento National Wildlife Refuge Complex - Roads dataset.

The North Pacific Forest Landscape Corridor and Connectivity Project utilized a landscape connectivity simulator (UNICOR) and a genetic simulation program (CDPOP) to model the functional (dispersal and genetic) connectivity in the North Pacific Landscape. The outputs from these programs indicated areas with high potential for landscape and genetic isolation and low probability of dispersal and colonization. In addition, this project was designed to provide spatially-explicit predictions of current and potential future patterns of fragmentation, prioritization of keystone corridors for protection and enhancement, and identification of places that may require habitat restoration or assisted migration to maintain viability....
