Presented here is a point cloud collected by the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) using an oblique plane-mounted camera system, covering the area of the Mud Creek landslide on California State Route 1 (SR1), Mud Creek, Big Sur, California. The point cloud is referenced to previously published lidar data and contains RGB information as well as XYZ. Point cloud coordinates are in NAD83 UTM Zone 10 meters. Imagery was collected with a Nikon D800 camera in RAW format and processed using structure-from-motion photogrammetry with Agisoft PhotoScan version 1.2.8 through 1.3.2. Pointclouds were clipped to an AOI using LASTools. The AOI was created from a KMZ in Google Earth and transformed to a shapefile using ArcMap 10.5.
Heat can be used a tracer for monitoring seepage rates within stream channels. To estimate seepage using temperature, the diel amplitude and attenuation of temperature at several depths below the streambed must be monitored, as well as the frequency and duration of streamflow in a channel (Narranjo and Smith, 2016). Special subsurface temperature rods (TRODS) were developed to address these most of these needs (Narranjo and Turcotte, 2015). A TROD consists of discrete temperature iButton sensors within a .75 inch (in) diameter 1 meter (m) long sealed, water-proof PVC pipe to prevent water damage to the sensors. A TROD is installed into stream channel sediments and measures surface water and sediment temperatures...

The San Antonio Creek Valley watershed (SACVW) is located in western Santa Barbara County about 15 miles (mi) south of Santa Maria, California and 55 mi north of Santa Barbara, California. The SACVW, is about 140 square miles and encompasses the San Antonio Creek Valley groundwater basin; From the late 1800s, groundwater has been the primary source of water for agricultural, military, municipal, and domestic uses. Groundwater withdrawal from pumping has exceeded the amount of water replenishing the basin, causing groundwater declines of more than 150 feet in parts of the valley between 1943 and 2017, and reducing base flow in San Antonio Creek at the western end of the SACVW. Agricultural water use (primarily for...

Infiltrometers are devices used to measure the infiltration rates of water into soils or porous media (Bouwer, 1986). Cylinder infiltrometers are generally constructed from metal shaped into cylinders which are driven into the ground and flooded with water. The rate at which water infiltrates into the ground is measured until the rate of infiltration is constant to capture unsaturated infiltration rates and beyond steady state to measure saturated infiltration rates and conductivity (Bouwer, 1986). Infiltrometers are typically employed to measure the rate of infiltration on inundated soils such as surface irrigation, seepage from surface water such as streams or reservoirs, or infiltration basins for groundwater...

This dataset accompanies geologic map publication " Geologic and geophysical maps of the onshore parts of the Santa Maria and Point Conception 30' x 60' quadrangles, California "; U.S. Geological Survey Scientific Investigations Map 3473. Data presented here include the digital geologic map database, paleontological sample locations and descriptions, and point data sets from magnetic and gravity data. The geologic database includes spatial feature classes and non-spatial tables that collectively contain the geologic information presented in the map plate. Fossil sample localities are included as a point feature class in the geologic map database and as two spreadsheet tables of fossil sample localities and fossil...

This digital dataset was created as part of a U.S. Geological Survey study, done in cooperation with the Monterey County Water Resource Agency, to conduct a hydrologic resource assessment and develop an integrated numerical hydrologic model of the hydrologic system of Salinas Valley, CA. As part of this larger study, the USGS developed this digital dataset of geologic data and three-dimensional hydrogeologic framework models, referred to here as the Salinas Valley Geological Framework (SVGF), that define the elevation, thickness, extent, and lithology-based texture variations of nine hydrogeologic units in Salinas Valley, CA. The digital dataset includes a geospatial database that contains two main elements as GIS...

This data release contains structure-from-motion (SfM) point cloud data from aerial surveys conducted over the Mud Creek landslide on Big Sur from 1967-2018. Data sources include scanned aerial photographs, digital images collected from fixed wing aircraft, and digital images collected from multirotor UAS.
To determine aquifer properties in the San Antonio Creek Valley watershed (SACVW) single well air and physical slug aquifer tests were conducted on seventeen monitoring wells at nine sites beginning on August 7 2017 and ending on August 13, 2017 . For all tests either a physical or air slug was used based on the distance of the groundwater level from the perforated interval of the well. A physical slug was used if the distance from the groundwater level to the top of the perforated interval was less than seven feet (ft); otherwise an air slug was used. above the screened interval than a physical slug was used. Physical slug tests were used in order to produce enough change in groundwater levels to adequately characterize...

The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) entered into cooperative agreements with the Santa Barbara County Water Agency and Vandenberg Space Force Base to conduct a hydrologic resource assessment and develop an integrated numerical hydrologic model of the San Antonio Creek Valley watershed (SACVW). As part of this study, the USGS developed a digital three-dimensional hydrogeologic framework model (HFM). This dataset contains a geospatial database related to the digital HFM, individual geographic information system (GIS) shapefiles from the geodatabase, and borehole data used to support development of the HFM in a Microsoft Excel workbook (*.xlsx extension). The geospatial database contains the following data elements:...
