Natural and anthropogenic contaminants, pathogens, and viruses are found in soils and sediments throughout the United States. Enhanced dispersion and concentration of these environmental health stressors in coastal regions can result from sea level rise and storm-derived disturbances. The combination of existing environmental health stressors and those mobilized by natural or anthropogenic disasters could adversely impact the health and resilience of coastal communities and ecosystems. These datasets provide information on plant alpha, beta, and gamma diversity, and plant species abundance at several spatial scales for tidal wetlands along a salinity gradient in the San Francisco Bay-Delta and an impounded brackish wetland complex in Suisun Marsh, California. Files include diversity metrics calculated at the patch, site, and region scales, average percent cover of wetland dominant plants at the patch scale, and average percent cover of all wetland plants at the site scale. This dataset is the output of a python script/ArcGIS model that identifes dikes as having a difference in elevation above a certain threshold. If the elevation difference was below a certain threshold the area was not considered a dike; however, if the difference in elevation between two points was significantly high then the area was marked as a dike. Areas continuous with eachother were considered part of the same dike. Post processing occured. Users examined the data output, comparing the proposed dike locations to aerial imagery, flowline data, and the DEM. Dikes that appeared to be false positives were deleted from the data set.

These data are estimates of den emergence date, den site departure dates, and duration at den sites as well as post-emergence observations for female polar bears sampled in the southern Beaufort Sea subpopulation 1985-2016 and the Chukchi Sea subpopulation 2008-2017. The data were used to better understand the importance of time spent at the den site post-emergence. Emergence dates and departure dates were determined using collar temperature sensor data.

Tidal marshes serve a variety of important functions valued by Maine communities. Unfortunately, tidal marsh habitats are highly vulnerable to damage or loss from sea level rise. Scientists expect marsh habitats will be more frequently flooded in the future and marsh vegetation lost or significantly altered as a result. Salt marshes do, however, have the ability to ‘migrate’ landward with sea level rise-induced changes in shoreline position. Monitoring shoreline change is of interest in many coastal areas because it enables quantification of land loss over time. Evolution of shoreline position is determined by the balance between erosion and accretion along the coast. In the case of salt marshes, erosion along the water boundary causes a loss of ecosystem services, such as habitat provision, carbon storage, and wave attenuation. This dataset contains measurements of dissolved oxygen concentrations collected at Caño Boquerón in Cabo Rojo, and Puerto Mosquito, Isla de Vieques, Puerto Rico. The method consists of in-situ incubation of two light-and-dark bottles for approximately four hours. Dissolved oxygen concentrations were determined using the Winkler method. A total of twelve monthly in-situ incubations were conducted from July 2015 to July 2016. For each bottle incubated, two or three titrations were conducted and an average of the DO calculations is presented.

This data package contains location data collected by the Argos System (CLS America, Inc.) from satellite transmitters attached to 116 Lesser Yellowlegs captured at multiple sites across their breeding and nonbreeding range in North America, 2018-2021. The raw data were processed to accomplish two goals: 1) flag implausible location and 2) remove locations within Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson (JBER) and Eielson Air Force Base boundaries. Removal of locations in military land boundaries is required due to federal guidelines by Department of Defense (DoD) Public Affairs office and DoD Partners in Flight.
