Wagon Wheel Gap. View of the gap with the sheer cliff of pink lava at the left. After cutting though the gap the Rio Grande turns sharply to the left and a tributary stream enters from the right in the distance and Goose Creek enters from the near right. The radial arrangement of these streams, resembling the spokes of a wheel, is said to have given rise to the name Wagon Wheel Gap. Mineral County, Colorado. July 25, 1926.
