The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) has developed and implemented an algorithm that identifies burned areas in dense time series of Landsat image stacks to produce the Landsat Burned Area Essential Climate Variable (BAECV) products. The algorithm makes use of predictors derived from individual Landsat scenes, lagged reference conditions, and change metrics between the scene and reference conditions. Outputs of the BAECV algorithm consist of pixel-level burn probabilities for each Landsat scene, and annual burn probability, burn classification, and burn date composites. These products were generated for the conterminous United States for 1984 through 2015. The State Geologic Map Compilation (SGMC) geodatabase of the conterminous United States (https://doi.org/10.5066/F7WH2N65) represents a seamless, spatial database of 48 State geologic maps that range from 1:50,000 to 1:1,000,000 scale. A national digital geologic map database is essential in interpreting other datasets that support numerous types of national-scale studies and assessments, such as those that provide geochemistry, remote sensing, or geophysical data. Current estimates of the magnitude and frequency of floods at gaged and ungaged stream sites are critical for assessing flood risk, delineating flood zones, designing hydraulic structures, and managing flood plains. Locations of focused (or ‘preferential’) groundwater discharge to surface water are often hydrologically and ecologically important, yet our ability to predict the spatial distribution and water quality of preferential riverbank discharges is limited at the scale of river networks. To advance the understanding of the physical controls on riverbank groundwater discharge processes, discharge zones can be mapped efficiently using handheld and drone-based thermal infrared cameras. Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD) is a fatal, contagious, neuro-degenerative disease affecting multiple members of the Family Cervidae. First detected in 1967, the disease has, as of April 2024, been documented in free-ranging and/or captive cervid populations in 33 states, five Canadian provinces, the Republic of South Korea, Norway, Sweden, and Finland. The data provided here contains information on the known, available, documented distribution of CWD in the United States that is current as of the publication date. This data release provides state-level estimates of annual agricultural use of pesticide compounds by major crop or crop group for states in the conterminous United States, for the time period 1992-2017, compiled from data used to make county-level estimates by means of methods described in Thelin and Stone (2013) and Baker and Stone (2015). The source of these data is the same as the published county-level pesticide use estimates for 1992-2009 (Stone, 2013), estimates for 2008-2012 (Baker and Stone, 2015), and estimates for 2013-17 (Wieben, 2019). County-level by-crop estimates are not published because of the increased uncertainty in estimating the geographic distribution of compounds applied to specific crops....
This data release consists of information from published tables in Connecticut Water Resources Bulletins (WRBs) transcribed into tabular digital format. Information about wells and test holes in the WRBs used in this data release consists of geographic location, depth to consolidated rock (bedrock depth), and depth of the well or test hole. This data release documents seven tables that contain environmental tracer data and lumped parameter model (LPM) results that are used for assessing the distribution of groundwater age in 21 Principal Aquifers of the continental United States. Groundwater samples were collected from 1,279 sites and analyzed for environmental tracers: tritium, tritiogenic helium-3, sulfur hexafluoride, carbon-14, and radiogenic helium-4.
