Watershed-scale water quality and water availability are affected by the interaction between the landscape and surface and subsurface flows at multiple scales. Wide-spread agriculture leads to diffuse non-point sources of contamination by agricultural chemicals. Localized exchanges of surface water and groundwater through highly reactive streambeds can attenuate the impact of agricultural chemicals on water quality. Thus, understanding the patterns and trends in water quality within a watershed requires analyses at multiple scales to understand hydrologic processes and the integration of hydrology and water quality information. It also compares the technical specifications of these services. The systems considered are Great Britain, PJM, California, Spain, The Netherlands, Germany, France, Belgium as well as UCTE as a whole.
The goal of my biodegradation research is to understand the processes controlling the rate of biodegradation of contaminants in the subsurface. This understanding will form the basis of methods to increase degradation rates without causing further degradation of groundwater quality. Recent work has focused on the fate of crude oil and agricultural nitrate contamination in the subsurface. Specific objectives for the crude oil research include: (a) determine the rate that contaminants are transported from the source zone; (b) provide an estimate of how long the spilled oil will continue to pollute the groundwater; and (c) determine the fate of products of biodegradation or so-called “secondary water quality impacts”...
We estimate that from 500 million to possibly over 1 billion birds are killed annually in the United States due to anthropogenic sources including collisions with human-made structures such as vehicles, buildings and windows, power lines, communication towers, and wind turbines; electrocutions; oil spills and other contaminants; pesticides; cat predation; and commercial fishing by-catch. Many of the deaths from these sources would be considered unlawful take under federal laws such as the Endangered Species Act, Migratory Bird Treaty Act, and the Bald and Golden Eagle Protection Act. California's State Water Resources Control Board (SWRCB) wishes to quantify how water and constituents introduced via the outflow from the Spring Creek Diversion Dam mix with water within Keswick Reservoir. Of primary interest is the degree of dilution that exists when this introduced flow reaches the main stem of Keswick Reservoir, and how this mixing is influenced by different operational parameters of the system. Much work has been done to track spilled oil and study its fate and its effect on the environment. Our studies involved developing and applying methods to identify and track spilled oil as it weathers, as well as to differentiate it from other petrogenic hydrocarbon input sources, as well as differentiating petrogenic sources. This work in identifying petroleum sources, both natural and anthropogenic, has a great deal of transfer value to other estuarine systems.

Invert data is taxonomic data that has been summarized into variables called metrics that summarize various components of the taxonomic data. The original taxonomic data comes from USGS BioData.
