This dataset contains a digital version of the Geologic Map of the United States, originally published at a scale of 1:2,500,000 (King and Beikman, 1974b). It excludes Alaska and Hawaii. In addition to the graphical formats, the map key is included in ASCII text. A geographic information system (GIS) allows combining and overlaying of layers for analysis of spatial relations not readily apparent in the standard paper publication. This disc contains only geology. However, digital data on geology, geophysics, and geochemistry can be combined to create useful derivative products-- for example, see Phillips and others (1993).

This product consists of time-series calculations of anthropogenic characteristics derived for 16 data themes for multiple scales covering the conterminous United States. The characteristics are those which (a) have consistent data sources, and (b) have the potential to affect the water quality of streams and rivers. All 16 data themes are provided for Hydrologic Unit Code level-10 (HUC-10) boundaries (n = 15,458). Additionally, measures of land use and imperviousness are provided for U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) Level 4 ecoregions (n = 967) and for U.S. counties (n = 3,109). Mainstem rivers are the backbone of a connected network of hydrologic units that cover the landscape. A mainstem connects a headwater source area to an outlet. This data release identifies the same mainstem paths in hydrographic datasets for the conterminous US. The Mainstems dataset includes cross walks between mainstem identifiers and several hydrographic datasets. These cross walk tables do not include geometry. The included attributes follow the same data model as the NHDPlusV2 but include numerous updates and improvements to network connectivity. LANDFIRE's (LF) 2022 Canopy Base Height (CBH) supplies information used in fire behavior models to determine the critical point at which a surface fire will transition to a crown fire in conjunction with other environmental factors, such as wind speed and moisture content. CBH data are continuous from 0 to 9.9 meters (to the nearest 0.1m) and describe the lowest point in a stand where there is enough available fuel (0.25in diameter) to propagate fire vertically through the canopy. This product consists of 29 datasets of tabular data and associated metadata for watershed characteristics of 1,530 study sites of the Surface Water Trends (SWT) project of the U.S. Geological Survey’s (USGS) National Water Quality Program (NWQP). This product consists of two sets of imperviousness calculations for 3,535 urban areas and urban clusters in the conterminous United States. Imperviousness is given as the percent of the area covered by impervious surfaces, such as roads, buildings, or parking lots. One set of calculations is for the time periods 2001, 2006, and 2011, based on the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) National Land Cover Dataset (NLCD) imperviousness data layer. The second set of calculations is for the time periods 1974, 1982, 1992, 2002, and 2012, based on landuse-based coefficients from the USGS NAWQA Wall-to-wall Anthropogenic Landuse Trends (NWALT) product. FGDC Metadata templates for 5 product areas during 2019 have been created to programmatically generate metadata for the products that are produced daily or weekly on the FireDanger production system. Fire Danger products are broken into 5 product areas (Fire Potential Index, Large Fire Probability, Predictive Service Area (provisional), Relative Greenness (weekly), and NDVI Greenness (weekly)). Metadata files are provided for each raster in the 2019 product areas. A folder is also available containing the 5 metadata templates that were used to generate content for each product area. This dataset provides an additional "Grazing Potential" land use class to the previously published U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) National Water-Quality Program (NAWQA) Wall-to-Wall Anthropogenic Land-use Trends (NWALT) product (Falcone, 2015, USGS Data Series 948). As with the NWALT, the dataset consists of five national 60-m land use grids, for the years 1974, 1982, 1992, 2002, 2012. The only change to the dataset is, for every year, some pixels which are class 50 "Low-use" in the NWALT, are reclassified to a new class 46 "Grazing Potential Expanded".
