This dataset includes swell-filtered, high-resolution seismic-reflection data jointly collected by the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) and Oregon State University in 2010, between Shelter Cove and Fort Bragg in northern California.
The Cabin Branch and Cabin Creek (Cappy Avenue) outcrops are located along two small creeks in Prince George’s County, Maryland. The Cabin Branch outcrop contains exposures of silty sands of the Upper Cretaceous Severn Formation, and both outcrops contain Paleocene silty quartz and glauconitic sands of the Danian Brightseat Formation and highly fossiliferous glauconitic quartz sands of the Selandian Aquia Formation. Data from these two locations were generated in order to designate a Principal Reference Section for the Danian age Brightseat Formation. This data release contains high-resolution multichannel seismic (MCS) reflection data collected in August of 2016 along the southeast Alaska continental margin. Structure perpendicular MCS profiles were collected along the Queen Charlotte-Fairweather fault. The data were collected aboard the R/V Norseman using a Delta sparker sound source and recorded on a 64-channel digital streamer. Subbottom acoustic penetration spans up to several hundreds of meters, and is variable by location.

This data release includes chirp seismic-reflection data collected in 2014 aboard the USGS R/V Snavely in San Pablo Bay, part of northern San Francisco Bay. These data were acquired to image the shallow geologic structure, particularly that related to the Hayward and Rodgers Creek Faults. Approximately 200 km of marine seismic-reflection data were collected along primarily northeast and northwest-trending profiles spaced 1-km apart using an Edgetech 512 chirp sub-bottom profiler that was towed alongside the vessel on a sled at the sea surface.
