This map shows the subcrop pattern of the Mesozoic rock units present at the top Mesozoic unconformity (also commonly referred to as the base Tertiary unconformity) in Cook Inlet basin, Alaska. The subcrop is projected onto the top Mesozoic unconformity depth surface of Cook Inlet basin, Alaska, published by Shellenbaum and others (2010). Publicly available geologic and geophysical data from multiple sources were collected, interpreted, and integrated into the subcrop map. Petrology and reservoir potential of Tertiary and Mesozoic sandstones, Cook Inlet, Alaska: A preliminary analysis of outcrop samples collected during 2007-2010 field seasons

The State of Alaska Division of Geological & Geophysical Surveys (DGGS) and Division of Oil & Gas (DOG) are currently engaged in a multi-year study of the hydrocarbon potential of the Tertiary and Mesozoic strata in Cook Inlet basin. Modal analyses and routine core analyses were performed on Tertiary and Mesozoic siltstones and sandstones collected during the 2007-2010 field seasons from six geographic areas in upper and lower Cook Inlet. The reservoir quality of Cook Inlet sandstones varies widely depending on their mineralogy, geologic age, burial depth, and depositional environment. This data contains the location of coal resources within the State of Alaska and created in cooperation with the Alaska Coal Association. Total hypothetical coal resources in Alaska exceed 5.5 trillion short tons, equal to about half the estimated coal resources of the United States. Major coal deposits occur in the Northern Alaska, Nenana, and Cook Inlet-Susitna provinces.

This report summarizes mercury injection capillary pressure (MICP) data for 19 samples collected from the Indecision Creek Member of the Naknek Formation and the Kaguyak Formation type section. All samples were analyzed by PetroTech Associates, Houston, TX. PetroTech Associates found that the Kaguyak rocks were generally less porous and permeable compared to the Naknek, although there is some overlap in values. Palynological analysis of 228 outcrop samples from the Kenai, Seldovia, and Tyonek quadrangles, Cook Inlet region, Alaska

The palynological samples included in this report were collected as part of the Alaska Department of Natural Resources' (Alaska Division of Geological & Geophysical Surveys (DGGS) and Alaska Division of Oil & Gas (DOG)) Cook Inlet Basin Analysis program. Zircon U-Pb and 40Ar/39Ar results from dikes collected within the Bruin Bay fault zone, lower Cook Inlet

This data release presents 40Ar/39Ar step-heating geochronology results from rocks collected roughly 7 km southwest of Contact Point, Iliamna B-3 Quadrangle. Samples obtained from a felsic dike intruding the principal Bruin Bay fault plane near Contact Point produced biotite and plagioclase 40Ar/39Ar ages of 36.5 +/- 0.8 Ma and 31.5+/-0.7 Ma, respectively. The age dates inform stratigraphic, structural, and geochronologic studies along the western margin of lower Cook Inlet basin. The accompanying report also presents zircon U-Pb LA-ICP-MS geochronology results for dikes near Ursus Head.

Bouguer gravity and magnetic susceptibility measurements at Iliamna Volcano, Alaska 2019

Gravity data were collected in August of 2019 at 21 sites on and around Iliamna Volcano and Anchorage, Alaska. Measurements were taken with a Lacoste & Romberg G-161 meter and reduced to obtain the complete Bouguer anomaly. A total of 39 magnetic susceptibility measurements were taken at 13 locations using a ZH Instruments SM30 susceptibility meter. This data release includes susceptibility measurements, processed gravity data, shapefiles with field locations, and site photos.

This preliminary report is a summary of progress made during the 2006-07 field seasons reconstructing depositional systems in Tertiary strata exposed in the Homer-Kachemak Bay area.The study area addressed in this report extends from Clam Gulch in the north to Coal Cove in the south.Tertiary strata in this area are only mildly deformed and provide a relatively clear view of depositional systems and sand body geometries along the eastern basin edge and their change from basin edge to more basin axial positions.

The Iniskin-Tuxedni Bay area contains excellent exposures of nearly all of the lower Cook Inlet Mesozoic succession, including most of the stratigraphic sections that define the interval and the petroleum source rocks that comprise the basin.
