The karstic Edwards and Trinity aquifers are classified as major sources of water in south-central Texas by the Texas Water Development Board, and both are classified as major aquifers by the State of Texas. The purpose of this data release is to present the data that were collected and compiled to describe the geologic framework and hydrostratigraphy within parts of Bandera and Kendall Counties, Texas, in order to help water managers, water purveyors, and local residents better understand and manage water resources. Boreholes were drilled in 2017 and 2018 in Redwell Basin, a headwater catchment underlain by mineralized and hydrothermally altered sedimentary rock in the Elk Mountains near the town of Crested Butte, Colorado. Site locations and drilling procedures are documented under the main page of this data release. Borehole geophysical data were collected in boreholes MW1, MW1UZ, and MW2.1 as open holes prior to well construction. Logging was performed by a combination of USGS and Mount Sopris Instruments (MW1) and University of Wyoming (MW1UZ and MW2.1) staff. This map shows the structural configuration on the top of the Cotton Valley Group in feet below sea level. The map was produced by calculating the difference between a datum at the land surface (either the kelly bushing elevation or the ground surface elevation) and the reported depth of the Cotton Valley Group. This resulted in 10,687 wells for which locations were available. After deleting the wells with obvious data problems, a total of 10,504 wells were used to generate the map. The data are provided as both lines and polygons, and the proprietary wells that penetrate the top of the Cotton Valley Group are graphically displayed as quarter-mile cells. Data is primarily type fossils from the USGS Denver Mesozoic Invertebrate Catalog created and maintained by U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) that as of March 2020 has been transferred to the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History. Four boreholes (MW1, MW1UZ, MW2, MW2.1) were drilled in the fall of 2017 and summer of 2018 in upper Redwell Basin, a headwater catchment underlain by hydrothermally altered sedimentary rock in the Elk Mountains near the town of Crested Butte, Colorado. The boreholes were continuously cored using a wireline HQ-sized coring system and sample a combination of Quaternary-aged surficial colluvium and the Cretaceous-aged Mesaverde Formation. Both the Edwards and Trinity aquifers are classified as major aquifers by the State of Texas. To effectively manage the water resources in the area, detailed maps and descriptions of the geologic framework and hydrostratigraphic units of the aquifers outcropping in Hays County, Tex. are needed. The map was produced by first subtracting the values of the top of the Travis Peak or Hosston from those of the top of the Cotton Valley Group. This isopach map shows the thickness of the interval from the top of the Cotton Valley Group to the top of the Smackover Formation. It was necessary to contour this expanded interval, instead of just the upper part of the Cotton Valley Group, because of the limited availability of data. Ideally, just the part of the Cotton Valley Group above the Bossier Shale would have been contoured, but there are a limited number of Bossier picks in the database, and many of the Bossier picks are not at a consistent stratigraphic break (J.L.
