The Geographic Names Information System (GNIS) is the Federal standard for geographic nomenclature. The U.S. Geological Survey developed the GNIS for the U.S. Board on Geographic Names, a Federal inter-agency body chartered by public law to maintain uniform feature name usage throughout the Government and to promulgate standard names to the public. The GNIS is the official repository of domestic geographic names data; the official vehicle for geographic names use by all departments of the Federal Government; and the source for applying geographic names to Federal electronic and printed products of all types.

The Climate Registry for the Assessment of Vulnerability (CRAVe) is a new web-based community resource that houses information on assessments of the vulnerability of various natural and human resources to a changing climate. Vulnerability assessments are important for identifying resources that are most likely to be affected by climate change and providing insights on why certain resources are vulnerable. Consequently, they provide valuable information for informing climate change adaptation planning. CRAVe allows users to enter information about their vulnerability assessments and includes a public search of existing assessments for specific geographic regions, assessment targets or endpoints, managing entities,...
The purpose of the Coral Reef Evaluation and Monitoring Project (CREMP) is to monitor the status and trends of selected reefs in the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary(FKNMS). CREMP assessments have been conducted annually at fixed sites since 1996 and data collected provides information on the temporal changes in benthic cover and diversity of stony corals and associated marine flora and fauna. The core field methods continue to be underwater videography and timed coral species inventories. Findings presented in this report include data from 109 stations at 37 sites sampled from 1996 through 2008 in the Florida Keys and 1999 through 2008 in the Dry Tortugas. The report describes the annual differences (between...

Welcome to the Rocky Mountain Avian Data Center! Here you can find information resulting from a wide variety of surveys conducted by RMBO and its partners. Users can query out count data, occupancy results, density results, and generate maps of survey locations. You may want to read the Usage Tips for information and tips on running queries. If you’re a manager and wondering how you might be able to use this information please visit our Using Estimates page for more information. The Rocky Mountain Avian Data Center is designed to provide information for specific questions and therefore works best when users select multiple filters for a query.

Project Goals and Objectives:1) increase the utility of the International Shorebird Survey (ISS) for making shorebird management and conservation decisions within the South Atlantic Landscape Conservation Cooperative, and2) create a single data management system that can service all partners along the Atlantic coastProject Summary:The utility of the International Shorebird Survey (ISS) has been greatly improved with an upgraded, user-friendly interface for data entry and retrieval. Manomet and ISS have contributed to the increasingly powerful citizen science bird records mechanism in eBird. Historic ISS data collected largely by volunteers as well as professional federal and state biologists over the last 40 years...
