This data set provides industrial-scale onshore wind turbine locations, corresponding facility information, and turbine technical specifications, in the United States to March 2014. The database has nearly 49,000 wind turbine records that have been collected, digitized, locationally verified, and internally quality assured and quality controlled. Turbines from the Federal Aviation Administration Digital Obstacle File, product date March 2, 2014, were used as the primary source of turbine data points. Verification of the position of turbines was done by visual interpretation using high-resolution aerial imagery in ESRI ArcGIS Desktop. This dataset describes in stream turbidity for watersheds included in a paired watershed study including a forested reference watershed and three urban watersheds with centralized or decentralized stormwater management in Clarksburg, Maryland USA. Turbidity was monitoring from June 2010 to December 2010, March 2011 to December 2011 and June 2012 to October 2012 in For-MD and Cent-MD, and only the 2011-2012 time period in Dist-MD. This dataset describes storm event loads (sediment and total particulate phosphorus), hydrologic metrics, and precipitation characteristics for storm events occurring between 2010-2012. Loads were estimated for four watersheds included in a paired watershed study; a forested reference watershed and three urban watersheds with centralized or decentralized stormwater management in Clarksburg, Maryland USA or Fairfax County, Virginia USA. LOCA is a statistical downscaling technique that uses past history to add improved fine-scale detail to global climate models. We have used LOCA to downscale 32 global climate models from the CMIP5 archive at a 1/16th degree spatial resolution, covering North America from central Mexico through Southern Canada. The historical period is 1950-2005, and there are two future scenarios available: RCP 4.5 and RCP 8.5 over the period 2006-2100 (although some models stop in 2099). A highly permeable landscape promotes resilience by facilitating range shifts and the reorganization of communities. Roads, development, dams, and other structures create resistance that interrupts or redirects movement and, therefore, lowers the permeability. Maintaining a connected landscape is the most widely cited strategy in the scientific literature for building resilience and has been suggested as an explanation for why there were few extinctions during the last period of comparable rapid climate change. A climate-resilient conservation portfolio includes sites representative of all geophysical settings selected for their landscape diversity and local connectedness. We developed methods to identify such a portfolio. First, we mapped geophysical settings across the entire study area. Second, within each geophysical setting we located sites with diverse topography that were highly connected by natural cover. To create a wall-to-wall surface of landscape permeability we used the software CIRCUITSCAPE (McRae and Shah 2009), an innovative program that models species and population movements as if they were electric current flowing through a landscape of variable resistance. Circuit modeling is conceptually aligned with the concept of landscape permeability because it recognizes that movement through a landscape is affected by a variety of impediments, and it quantifies the degree and the directional outcomes of the compounding effects. This dataset offers hourly estimates of radar indicated rain gage corrected precipitation at a roughly 4km spatial resolution. Mosaicked into a national product at NCEP, from the regional hourly multi-sensor (radar+gauges) precipitation analyses produced by the 12 River Forecast Centers over CONUS. Some manual QC done at the RFCs. The Stage II/IV job is run at 33min past the top of each hour. Hourly Stage IV is re-made hourly (if there is new input after valid time for the next 23 hours, then again at 1/3/5/7 days after valid time. This collection contains three statistically downscaled time series (datasets) for the Red River Basin (South Central U.S.), and one dataset used as historical observations. In particular, three different Global Climate Models (MPI-ESM-LR, CCSM4 and MIROC5) were downscaled using three different quantile mapping methods (CDFt, EDQM and BCQM). We do not recommend the use of the BCQM method, as the CDFt method is considered an improvement of it. The datasets created using the BCQM method are published as a demonstration of the risks of using flawed methods. The TopoWx ('Topography Weather') dataset contains historical 30-arcsec resolution (~800-m) interpolations of daily minimum and maximum topoclimatic air temperature for the conterminous U.S. Using both DEM-based variables and MODIS land skin temperature as predictors of air temperature, interpolation procedures include moving window regression kriging and geographically weighted regression. To avoid artificial climate trends, all input station data are homogenized using the GHCN/USHCN Pairwise Homogenization Algorithm (http://www.ncdc.noaa.gov/oa/climate/research/ushcn/#phas).
