From 2013 to 2015, bathymetric surveys of New York City’s six West of Hudson reservoirs (Ashokan, Cannonsville, Neversink, Pepacton, Rondout, and Schoharie) were performed to provide updated capacity tables and bathymetric maps. Depths were surveyed with a single-beam echo sounder and real-time kinematic global positioning system (RTK-GPS) along planned transects at predetermined intervals for each reservoir. A separate set of echo sounder data was collected along transects at oblique angles to the main transects for accuracy assessment. Field survey data was combined with water-surface elevations in a geographic information system to create three-dimensional surfaces representing reservoir-bed elevations in the...

This child item dataset contains a single horizontal-to-vertical spectral ratio (HVSR) measurement from Delaware County, New York, DHVSR8. Raw and processed HVSR data for this HVSR measurement are included in a zipped directory named by the measurement site identifier. The HVSR data-collection sites are designated by a county sequential numbering system (DHVSR8, etc. where "D" indicates Delaware County).

From 2016 through 2018, the U.S. Geological Survey, in cooperation with the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, collected horizontal-to-vertical seismic soundings at 71 locations in the major valleys in the Oneonta area, Otsego and Delaware Counties, New York to help determine thickness of the unconsolidated deposits and the bedrock surface elevation. The HVSR technique, commonly referred to as the passive-seismic method, is used to estimate the thickness of unconsolidated sediments and the depth to bedrock (Lane and others, 2008; Fairchild and others, 2013). The passive-seismic method uses a single, broad-band three-component (two horizontal and one vertical) seismometer to record ambient seismic...

Gravity data were collected from 2016 through 2018 to assist in mapping subsurface geology in northeastern Iowa. This data release provides principal facts for 1080 new gravity stations that were acquired to supplement existing public gravity data coverage. From July to November 2019, 48 environmental samples and four quality assurance and quality control samples were collected throughout the Lake Champlain and Susquehanna River Basins. Samples were collected from 10 production wells and nine domestic wells in the Lake Champlain Basin, and 14 production wells and 15 domestic wells in the Susquehanna River Basin. Of the total wells sampled, 24 were completed in bedrock and 23 were completed in sand and gravel. Approximately 20 percent of samples were collected from wells that previously have been sampled as part of this study in 2005, 2009, and 2014. Groundwater samples were collected prior to any treatment or filtration systems, from existing domestic and production...
