These data are solubility calculations for dissolved gases in groundwater samples collected to support a U.S. Geological Survey study to estimate the timing and source of recharge to the basalt groundwater system in the Umatilla River basin, Oregon. The software package Dissolved Gas Modeling and Environmental Tracer Analysis (DGEMTA; Jurgens and others, 2020) was used to develop the solubility calculations. DGMETA produces estimates of dissolved gas concentrations during recharge as well as estimates of recharge temperature, excess air, and excess nitrogen gas concentrations by optimizing the solutions of solubility equations for multiple gases dissolved in samples of groundwater. This dataset contains measurements of dissolved hydrocarbons in various water sources, as well as ancillary raw calibration data showing the stability of the gas chromatograph with an atomic emission detector and flame ionization detector (GC-AED-FID) analytical system over time. Across multiple studies, samples from tap water, groundwater, surface water, springs, mine outflows, and blank materials were analyzed using this system over a period from 2014 to 2017, comprising 172 samples analyzed. This dataset contains environmental tracer data from surface water and groundwater samples collected by the U.S. Geological Survey in Redwell Basin, an alpine watershed in the Elk Mountains near the town of Crested Butte, Colorado. The basin is underlain by interbedded shale and sandstone that have been variably hydrothermally altered and silicified by local magmatic intrusions. Groundwater age distribution and susceptibility to natural and anthropogenic contaminants were assessed for selected principal aquifers of the Western United States: the Central Valley aquifer system (CVAL), the Basin and Range basin-fill aquifers (BNRF), the Rio Grande aquifer system (RIOG), the High Plains aquifer (HPAQ), the Columbia Plateau basaltic-rock aquifers (CLPT), and the Colorado Plateaus aquifers (COPL). These data were compiled to model the effects of flow regime and bed grain size distributions on rates of gross primary production (GPP) in the Colorado River below Glen Canyon Dam, AZ, USA. The objectives of our study were to quantify daily and weekly scale effects of an experimental flow regime on GPP in the Colorado River. The experimental flow was conducted at Glen Canyon Dam from May-August in 2018, 2019, and 2020 and contrasted steady-low flows on weekend days with business-as-usual hydropeaking flows during weekdays. Historical water and gas chemistry data from geothermal areas are important for detecting long-term patterns, informing geothermal energy exploration, development, and use, and for contextualizing more recent data. The U.S. Geological survey has published water and gas chemistry data from geothermal areas in the western United States, which is primarily available as scanned PDF files. This makes the data difficult to access or include in large-scale data analysis. The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), in cooperation with the Bureau of Reclamation, began hydrogeologic investigations in 2009 in the Paradox Valley in Colorado. In June 2011, nine groundwater samples were collected from selected wells and springs in the study area. The samples were analyzed for a suite of environmental tracers and dissolved gases that were used to model recharge temperatures and groundwater ages. Data were collected on American glass eels (Anguilla rostrata) to determine optimal thermal conditions for laboratory rearing and aquaculture. American glass eels (Anguilla rostrata) were housed in buckets for 3 weeks at 14, 18, 22, or 26°C (n=5 buckets/treatment) to determine optimal juvenile rearing temperature in the laboratory. Initial weight (g) was recorded for each bucket. During the 3 week experimental period, data was collected on water temperature (°C), mortality, and the presence of gas bubbles. Water samples were taken to measure ammonia (mg/L) following the completion of the experiment. Final eel length (mm) and wet weight (g) were recorded for all eels in the study.
