The "Li_Triangle_ARG_MRP_NMIC.gdb" geospatial database was developed by the U.S. Geological Survey for use in a geographic information system (GIS) to support mineral resource research and assessment of lithium resources in the Argentina portion of the central South American Lithium Triangle. The Lithium Triangle is host to significant amounts (nearly 60%) of the worlds known (identified) resources of lithium. Over 100 salars and lagunas, ranging in area from a few square kilometers (km2) to approximately 9,000 km2, are found within this region. The Reef Package is a sequence of coarse-grained cumulates that host the J-M Reef Pd-Pt deposit in the Stillwater Complex of Montana. The top of the Reef Package marks the top of economic-grade platinum-group element mineralization and is identified by a distinct change in rock fabric, from the coarse-grained rocks of the Reef Package to finer-grained cumulates in the hanging wall. This data release contains two related datasets acquired for the uncrewed aerial system aeromagnetic test survey at the Boulder Magnetic Observatory. The first contains the raw magnetic data for the set of four test flights, and the second contains the compensated magnetic data for the same four flights. Details of the data are recorded in the metadata files associated with each dataset.
This dataset includes photographic images of thin sections of drill core from the Stillwater Complex, Montana, along with a shapefile representing the location of the drill hole. The core was drilled in order to study contact-type copper and nickel sulfide mineralization in the Stillwater Complex. The images of the entire thin section, both in plane- and cross-polarized light, were taken using a high-resolution digital camera on a macro stand. Each zip file, named with the drill hole identification number, contains the images for a single drill hole. In response to file size restrictions, the data were organized into two parts. This release includes aeromagnetic data collected via low-altitude helicopter flown over northeastern Washington State, centered over the town of Republic, Washington. The data were acquired between September 26, 2022 and August 21, 2023 by Precision Geosurveys, Inc. of Langley, British Columbia and processed by EDCON-PRJ, Inc. of Lakewood, Colorado, contracted by the U.S. Geological Survey and funded through the Earth Mapping Resources Initiative (EarthMRI). The survey includes gridded data from target altitude of 80-100 meters above ground level, subject to aircraft climb and descent limitations. This geologic map database is comprised of new geologic mapping, at a 1:24,000 scale, along the southern Bartlett Springs fault in the northern California Coast Ranges. The map covers an area of 258 square miles in Lake, Napa, Colusa, and Yolo counties, work was undertaken between 2016 and 2021, and supported by the USGS National Cooperative Geologic Map Program. This geodatabase contains the most up-to-date and highest resolution mapping in the region. This data release contains the geospatial resources that were used by the USGS to compile the mineral resource inventory for the state of North Dakota, developed by the Mineral Resource Program (MRP) staff of the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) at the request of the Bureau of Land Management (BLM). Instrument, standard, and sample data from application of in situ laser ablation-inductively coupled plasma-mass spectrometry (LA-ICPMS) dating of scheelite in thin section, and sample data from isotope dilution thermal ionization mass spectrometry (ID-TIMS) scheelite dating are in this data release. Sulfide- and chromite-bearing samples of the Basal and Ultramafic series of the Stillwater Complex are known to contain elevated concentrations of platinum-group elements (PGE). Thin sections were prepared from drill core and surface samples from the Chrome and Iron Mountain areas. Core samples are from exploration drilling programs by AMAX in the 1960s and 1970s and Beartooth Platinum in 2004-2007. This dataset includes pdf representations of drill core logs showing associated drill core information, a pdf of the explanation for the lithology and structure sections of the logs, a shapefile of the locations of the drill holes, and sixteen individual .csv files of tabular data that was compiled from hand written drill core logs. The drill core is from the Stillwater Complex, Montana and was drilled from 1969 to 1977. The core was logged from 1979 to 1993. This dataset contains whole rock geochemical data for volcanic rocks, both extrusive rocks of the western part of the Thunder Mountain volcanic field and hypabyssal dikes in the Stibnite-Yellow Pine district and in the Pistol Creek dike swarm, which are in central Idaho.
