We developed spatial summary (GIS) layers for a study of factors influencing the distribution of cave and karst associated fauna within the Appalachian Landscape Conservation Cooperative region, one of 22 public-private partnerships established by the United States Fish and Wildlife Service to aid in developing landscape scale solutions to conservation problems (https://lccnetwork.org/lcc/appalachian). This dataset contains the physical collection information (e.g., sample location, date, gear type) and microsatellite DNA genotype of egg and larval Lake Sturgeon collected in the St. Clair and Detroit rivers in 2015 and 2016. Individuals were genotyped for 18 microsatellite loci (13 disomic and 5 polysomic). Alleles (base pair sizes) were recorded as presence absence scores (1:present, 2:absent, 0:missing data) for all previously observed alleles. Thus individual genotypes were recorded as pseudo diploid dominant phenotypes resulting in individual vectors of length n=205 for each genotyped egg or larval individual.

Monitoring demographic response over time is valuable for understanding population dynamics of endangered species. We quantified the variation in survival patterns for three small isolated island populations of endangered Laysan ducks (Anas laysanensis; also called Laysan teal) in the Hawaiian Archipelago using data from individually marked birds. Using the median or maximum resight intervals of individually marked birds and carcass recovery dates the survival of ducks at Laysan Island, Midway Atoll, and Kure Atoll was estimated. This dataset includes demographic information for each bird released, mortality information, and data used to calculate population survival.
The CA Academy of Science and Point Blue Conservation Science conducted a systematic analysis of uncertainty in modeling the future distributions of ~50 California endemic plant species and ~50 California land birds, explicitly partitioning among 5 alternative sources of variation and testing for their respective contributions to overall variation among modeled outcomes. They mapped the uncertainty from identified sources, which can guide decisions about monitoring, restoration, acquisition, infrastructure, etc., in relation to climate change.

Desert wetlands, or ciénegas, are regions of high conservation value in the American Deserts. These environments, in the Apache Highlands Ecoregion spanning the borderlands of Arizona, USA and Sonora, México, contain an estimated 19% of endangered, threatened and candidate species within 2% of the regional area. Besides being crucial refugia for native fish, amphibians, snails, and plants, ciénegas constitute critical habitat for migratory birds. The dataset is a composite of morphological data used in the description of a new species of marine fish, Trachinotus macrospilus (Teleostei: Carangidae), endemic to the Marquesas Islands of the Indo-West Pacific. In the addition to the newly described species, three previously named (nominate) species of the same genus are compared and redescribed in this same manuscript. The morphological data include both mensural (morphometric) and meristic (count) data. Synonymies are provided for all species, since many misidentifications have been made in the literature, which dates to the early 1800's.

This dataset consists of three tables relating to (1) detections of adult McKay's Buntings from line transect with distance estimation surveys on St. Matthew and Hall islands in Alaska between May 30 and June 29, 2003 and June 6 and 11, 2018, (2) environmental covariates associated with detections of adult McKay's Buntings in less than or equal to 250-m long contiguous transect segments, and (3) environmental covariates used to predict McKay's Bunting population size in less than or equal to 300 x 300-m pixels across the study area in each year, and to estimate population change between years.
