This dataset documents results from 1,041 groundwater samples collected during 1986‒2015 from 16 geologic units in Pennsylvania associated with 25 or more groundwater samples with activities or concentrations of radon-222. Radon-222 is hereafter referred to as “radon.” These 16 geologic units were evaluated in an effort to identify variations in radon concentrations and to classify potential radon exposure from groundwater and indoor air. This dataset was developed for the Pennsylvania Environmental Public Health Tracking (PAEPHT) Program to describe the spatial distribution of radon concentrations in groundwater in Pennsylvania and to illustrate data gaps that exist throughout the State. This dataset contains environmental tracer data from surface water and groundwater samples collected by the U.S. Geological Survey in Redwell Basin, an alpine watershed in the Elk Mountains near the town of Crested Butte, Colorado. The basin is underlain by interbedded shale and sandstone that have been variably hydrothermally altered and silicified by local magmatic intrusions. Surface electrical resistivity tomography (ERT), time-domain electromagnetics (TEM), nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), magnetics, and gravity data were acquired in 2016, 2017 and 2018 in the greater East River Watershed near Crested Butte Colorado with a focused effort in Redwell Basin. The sediment-based lifespan of salt marsh units in Assateague Island National Seashore (ASIS) and Chincoteague Bay is shown for conceptual marsh units defined by Defne and Ganju (2018). The lifespan represents the timescale by which the current sediment mass within a marsh parcel can no longer compensate for sediment export and deficits induced by sea-level rise. The lifespan calculation is based on vegetated cover, marsh elevation, sediment supply, and sea-level rise (SLR) predictions after Ganju and others (2020).
