We initiated a project in 2011 to identify lake-wide movement patterns and spawning areas of invasive lake trout in Yellowstone Lake, WY. We implanted acoustic transmitters in lake trout and established a network of stationary telemetry receivers in Yellowstone Lake. Lake Trout tagged with acoustic transmitters (Vemco V - series) were tracked with stationary acoustic receivers (Vemco VR2W - 69 kHz) from 2011 to 2015. The number of active receivers ranged from 17 - 65 as short term goals of the project changed. Coordinates for each detection represent the location of the receiver reading the transmitter. Additionally, detection ranges can vary from apporximately 500 - 1200 meters (but see Vemco.com for more details)....
The data support a study that surveyed the spatial and temporal distribution of salmon eDNA in Seattle urban creeks, Washington, 2018 - 2020. The metadata represent qPCR quantification cycle (Cq) values for Chinook salmon, coho salmon, and coastal cutthroat trout assays performed on water samples collected on specific days at specific sites on Thornton Creek, Taylor Creek, and Mapes Creek, which are tributaries of Lake Washington within Seattle city limits. The metadata also includes latitude and longitude for each site and Y-intercept and slope for each assay run.
In 1998, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission's (FWC) Fisheries Independent Monitoring (FIM) program began a long-term monitoring effort of key reef fish populations in the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary. This effort was aimed at evaluating the relative abundance, size structure, and habitat utilization of specific reef fish species that are targeted by commercial and recreational fisheries.; Smith, S.G., et al. 2011, Multispecies survey design for assessing reef-fish stocks, spatially explicit management performance, and ecosystem condition. The purpose of the Coral Reef Evaluation and Monitoring Project (CREMP) is to monitor the status and trends of selected reefs in the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary(FKNMS). CREMP assessments have been conducted annually at fixed sites since 1996 and data collected provides information on the temporal changes in benthic cover and diversity of stony corals and associated marine flora and fauna. The core field methods continue to be underwater videography and timed coral species inventories. Findings presented in this report include data from 109 stations at 37 sites sampled from 1996 through 2008 in the Florida Keys and 1999 through 2008 in the Dry Tortugas. The report describes the annual differences (between...

Previous research has documented the significance of total mercury (THg) as a northern contaminant in general and of fish in particular. While much research has been devoted to documenting both spatial and temporal changes in THg in consumed fish, little effort has been directed at understanding patterns of THg in Dolly Varden (Salvelinus malma), a prized subsistence species throughout the western North American Arctic. Here we report historical THg concentrations for anadromous Dolly Varden from 10 populations in the Yukon and Northwest Territories sampled across a range of latitudes (67–69°N) and longitudes (136–141°W) between the years 1988–91. Unadjusted mean THg concentrations ranged from 15 to 254 ng/g wet...

Monitoring 1-Changes in Plant and Animal Distribution: Fauna
Fecundity is a vital population characteristic that is directly linked to the productivity of fish populations. Historic data from Yukon River (Alaska) Chinook salmon Oncorhynchus tshawytscha suggest that length-adjusted fecundity differs among populations within the drainage and either is temporally variable or has declined. Yukon River Chinook salmon have been harvested in large-mesh gill-net fisheries for decades, and a decline in fecundity was considered a potential evolutionary response to size-selective exploitation. The implications for fishery conservation and management led us to further investigate the fecundity of Yukon River Chinook salmon populations. Matched observations of fecundity, length, and genotype...

Monitoring 1-Changes in Plant and Animal Distribution: Fauna
Sport fisheries season and management summaries for 2010 with preliminary information for 2011 in the Kuskokwim-Goodnews Management Area are presented. The Kuskokwim-Goodnews Management Area (KGMA) consists of all waters of the Kuskokwim River drainage, Kuskokwim Bay, and waters extending from the Naskonat Peninsula in the north to the south side of Cape Newenham in the south. Sport and subsistence fisheries target all five Pacific salmon species, as well as rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss), Dolly Varden (Salvelinus malma), sheefish (Stenodus leucichthys), Arctic grayling (Thymallus arcticus), and northern pike (Esox lucius). In 2010, angler-days totaled 21,339 with the largest proportion coming from the Kanektok...
This map was created to help assess impacts on nonindigenous aquatic species distributions due to flooding associated with Hurricane Maria. Storm surge and flood events can assist expansion and distribution of nonindigenous aquatic species through the connection of adjacent watersheds, backflow of water upstream of impoundments, increased downstream flow, and creation of freshwater bridges along coastal regions. This map will help natural resource managers determine potential new locations for individual species, or to develop a watch list of potential new species within a watershed. These data include a subset of data from the Nonindigenous Aquatic Species Database, that fall within the general area of the 2017...
Reported here are the metabarcoding read numbers and biomass data assessed from a fish community in a southern Florida pond in Pinecrest Gardens after invasive species eradication and native restocking in 2017 and 2018 in linear regression models. This dataframe contains the number of fish of each species identified, their measured lengths estimated population surface area, and the number of metabarcoding reads (with SD and COV) for each species observed from the sampling date.
